I didn't watch any of this BS game and then like a jackass decided at the last 3 minutes to tune in.

Makes me sick that UNC gets handed a trophy. Take away all of their blatant disregard to the term student athlete, and the complete hypocrisy on every level. Take all that away and, even still, they should not be playing.

They should not be playing tonight bc, if the officials weren't blatantly biased, they would have been beaten by Arky. Or U.K.

I don't think the officials are paid by UNC. Or are secretly colluding in dark corners and alleys. But, there is some kind of inherent bias that blatantly favors certain teams and, sometimes, it is way over the top (when u have a guy like Higgins who has a personal beef).

Either way, I am done with college ball, except Uk, for awhile. I watched nothing after U.K. Lost in the tourney (save for those last couple mins tonight). I have zero interest until they actually hire full time officials. At least for the power 5 conferences and the tourney. Literally makes me sick. Has lost all of its relevance and importance to me.

Don't know if you've noticed this, but refereeing in college basketball has been awful and inconsistent for years now. The refs also gifted the Zags a free possession on a b.s. deflected ball call which led to three huge points late too. You could point out the bad calls each way all night. And college basketball as an overall product and game has sucked for god knows how long now. I'd rather watch a random weekday NBA game than have to suffer through any non-UK college game. The college game has no flow, way too much stoppage time, non-stop whistles, no consistency, and they play their Final Four games in massive football stadiums that leads to shitty games. It's one of the worst, least entertaining forms of basketball on the planet.

IDK man either I am just now waking up to it completely , or this year was the penultimate of Bullshit blatantly biased officiating. Started in the SEC, then actually lessened the first few games of the tourney (I actually made threads about how good the refs were the first few game), only to go right back to the BS Ticky tack call everything bs that always seems to blatantly favor one team.

Like I said, I am not a conspiracy guy who thinks the refs are paid off, or secretly working together. But, there is blatant bias in favor of certain teams. Maybe that is sub conscious. Maybe it is each refs personal beefs or favoritism on display, I don't honestly know. All I do know is until they professional officials, like the NBA, it is going to continue to suffer.

That is a shame bc it is one of only two sports I thoroughly enjoy watching. College basketball and football is my two passions sports wise. One of them took a huge step back for me with the way this tourney has been handled.

It is so meaningful to me to be able to watch the kids go out there and play their hearts out to win for their teammates and for their school. To have that taken away from them by some bullshit officiating crew who will go back to their roofing business and plumbing job the next day is wrong. It is wrong and I am maybe just now this year awakening to it, but that doesn't change the basic facts. All of it is really just sad. UNC is the symptom. NCAA is the disease. Unless they correct this issue, my guess is they are gonna lose a lot more people than just me.[/QUOTE]

That OOB call should have actually been a foul.. 3 free throws.. The officials "mistakenly" thought the defender touched the ball.. In reality he touched the Gonzaga Player.

So in actuality.. That was ANOTHER bad call on Gonzaga, NOT the other way around. Turns out the Zags buried a 3, but it doesn't matter. A bad call is a bad call, even if the outcome wasn't bad or even beneficial.

UNC was once again gifted roughly 10 direct points and arguably 20 in direct points..

IMO, the college game sucks BECAUSE it's too much like the nba. I'd rather watch 7th grade B-team bball than an nba game. IMO, there's not enough whistles. Refs shouldn't be allowed to decide when to call a violation or not. If a violation occurs, call it. That would eliminate the biggest plague on the game....inconsistency.

I feel the exact same way. Don't give a shit anymore unless Kentucky is playing.

College Basketball is going the way of professional boxing. The officials have way too much control over the outcome of a game and it's very obvious that the entire thing was set up for a UNC-Duke rematch for ratings, which thankfully never occurred. Everything was tailor-made for UNC from their easy draw to the biased officiating. I usually don't complain about officiating unless it's something obvious that happens in Knoxville or Baton Rouge, for example, but after watching College Basketball for over 50 years it was absolutely blatant in favor of UNC, a school which shouldn't be playing in the first place.

So you think there should be even more whistles and more stoppages in college basketball?

Wow. That's an awful take.

They should call the game as the rules dictate. Once the players become accustomed to the game, they will adjust and there will be no more whistles than we have now. At least then, there will be consistency.

I'm not sure how UNC making it out of the blueblood bracket can be called an 'easy draw'. In addition to playing Butler and UK (or UCLA), they should have had to get through Kansas. That's not a 'Duke conspiracy' bracket.

You can talk about the officials handing them games all you like, but the strength of their bracket cannot be denied.

College basketball is absolute garbage. Refereeing is bad, play is bad, games are bad. Need to pull a college football and say screw the NCAA

I've been saying the same thing for years but for some reason it appears it will never happen.
Just call fouls according to the rules, every time, all the time.

What do you mean by "pull a college football and say screw the ncaa?"

I agree - officiating in college is ruining its enjoy-ability. I kinda like the women's model of 4, 10-minute quarters where the fouls reset.

That might be next. Something has to be done. Everyone is tired those jackasses in stripes dictating these guys bc of coach grudges etc. We want to see the best players on the court.
I was enjoying watching Collins of Zags play and he got a couple terrible calls and had to sit a lot of the game especially the last five minutes of game.

In Florida's game vs. South Caroline, 4 fouls were called on ONE possession successively, USC was in the double bonus for like 14 entire minutes. It sucked!

I want to see the best players on the court....playing the game as it is meant to be played: Without all the bumping, banging, shoulder-dropping, ball carrying, hand-checking, etc....Today's game is no more than organized street ball with officials that either don't know the rules or choose not to call them consistently i.e....fairly.

if there were four fouls committed, there's no problem with calling them. The problem is when there are four fouls committed, two carries and a palming violation and only two of the fouls are called.
