Short, sweet, leaving nothing to the imagination at least in so far as I know it:
-- Re: Speculation that Towles will be the starter -- source said that was not true. "It's an open competition." Emphasis was, "The best player's going to play," with the "best player" presumably meaning whoever played best this week.
-- Both players are very likely to play. (no surprise)
-- The competition was even a bit downplayed, because more than the week in practice the actual game is going to determine much more.
-- From other sources, any disconnect that's been referenced re: the locker room is not absolutely related to the Barker/Towles thing. There are players who are very loyal to Barker and would love to see him play, but that was downplayed as an overall role in any of the tension that Stoops acknowledged. I have heard that Towles had a good day in practice yesterday but that's all I know.
And remember....
-- If you have a criticism of players, don't make it personal.
-- If you have a criticism of someone's take on a player, even if they're critical, try to demonstrate your disagreement as agreeably as possible. Because otherwise that's one nasty cycle that does not get better, only worse. I am not strict in terms of moderating. I know that when some losses pile up people get testy. Let's keep the HOB as civil as possible. We do a really good job of that here.
