How would you rank Cal's 8 UK backcourts?
And where do you think next year's falls (w/ Briscoe, w/out Briscoe)

10: Wall, Bledsoe, Liggins
11: Knight, Lamb, Liggins
12: Teague, Lamb, (maybe Miller)
13: Harrow, Mays, Goodwin, Polson
14: Andrew H, Aaron H, Hawkins, Polson
15: Andrew H, Aaron H, Ulis, Booker
16: Ulis, Murray, Briscoe, Hawkins
17: Fox, Monk, Briscoe, Hawkins, Mulder
18: Green, Diallo, SGA, (Briscoe?)

I will go: 17, 16, 10, 11, 15, 12, 14, 13
I think w/ Briscoe, 18 falls between 12 & 14, and w/out Briscoe 18 falls between 14 & 13.

I would put '15 in front of '11.

On paper that 15' backcourt is hard to beat at 1. That's 4 NBA players in 1 back court, 2 of which had already started in a championship game, 1 who is an all-star and Ulis, who let's be honest is the best pure PG to ever put on a UK uniform. This years was really good too though. As was 2010, but they couldn't shoot for crap so it kind of dampens them a bit.

YOU HATE POLSON... :)

12 bottom 3?

Lol no.

Lamb has been our best three point shooter.

No way in hell that backcourt is bottom three. It's definitely top 3.

I'll admit, trying to rank them against each other is going to be a problem, but DAMN what a wonderful problem to have!!! #BigBlueproblems

I have to admit, I was never a fan of Teague. IMO he is the 2nd worst starting PG Cal has had at UK. My other issue with the 12 team is that there really wasn't a backup to Teague and Lamb. Sure Miller was played some guard, but he was really a forward and played 1/2 his minutes at F. So I didn't give Miller as much weight had he played G full-time.

I try not to look at them by what they become later, but rather what they were then (that 1 season). Ulis now (or last year) significantly > the FR Ulis (who was still good).

Depth to me isn't that important.

Teague was one of our better defensive guard and great at getting in the gaps.

Lamb was our best shooter.

I would easily put them in top 3. Maybe, even top.

Had freshman Ulis gotten the typical pt of most of our freshman guard it would not have been that far off from his soph year. He is just simply a different breed of player. 3 or 4 inches and he is easily a top draft pick who teams would have been salivating over. You literally can not teach the skills that kid had. You're just born with those. Booker was pretty remarkable shooting wise in his first year, and the twins learned far more consistency and control their 2nd year. I still have to put that group 1 or 2. We also aren't even mentioning Hawk with that group and we all know how could he can be. That was just an incredibly talented and deep backcourt.

I loved the 15 team, maybe more than any other team the past 35 years. The starting 5 was good, but not great. But (until the Poythress injury), the 2nd 5 was almost as good. It was like having a top 10 team starting, and a top 15 team coming off the bench, and as a group of 10 (until the injury) they were historically great defensively. I didn't include Hawkins in the 15 backcourt because he didn't play significant minutes that season (4.3mpg).

I don't know that group overall was incredibly special. I agree with not including Hawkins in that group because he hardly ever played, but he did contribute to the practices and stuff that made them all better. I just personally think that back court is tough to beat. Obviously, Monk and Murray were more athletic and explosive. Far more highlight real types, but the strength, size and stability of the twins, matched with the scoring touch of Booker and the greatness that is Tyler Ulis is just too much for me to put anyone else ahead of them. That back-court literally had it all! You could have easily subbed in Hawkins to inject some energy and athleticism as needed.

At the end of the day, 12 won the big hardware. Therefore, it would be hard to convince me they should not be ranked number 1. There are some great ones to choose from, but everyone besides the 2012 group lost when it counted.

Are we talking performance on the court at the time or overall best?

Wall/Bledsoe is head and shoulders above, but Fox/Monk and Ulis/Booker/Harrison twins is right there.

What's crazy is just how much 2013 stands out as a bad, bad outlier. Quite impressive actually.

I really loved the combination of Brandon Knight and Doron Lamb. I know that Brandon struggled a bit at times during the regular season, but man, he became a beast by the time March rolled around. And the kid could shoot. I like having a PG that can shoot the deep ball really well. It just makes you that much harder to defend.

Hawkins was been injured a lot from breaking his hand to having various ankle injuries. Thus it's related to less minutes played.

Do we have stats on all these players over the years when they played here? Frankly I really don't care what they did in the nba, UK is not in the league.

Sometimes stats are skewed a bit if their is little to no post game and the D keys in on the guards like what happened with Murray and Ulis. If both them played in say 2012 or even this season I think their numbers would be even greater.
