That's a blazing quick lineup that could work in some situations. I just haven't seen anything out of Wenyen that makes me think he could play the 5 effectively. I mean he rebounds pretty well. But he just got repeatedly abused on defense down low.
But with a new year, maybe we get a whole new player.
That's why I said bulk up and small ball. And random.
By the way, who was playing the 5 last year when we had a lineup of Wenyen/Willis/Briscoe/Monk/Fox?
Not that we saw it more than a few minutes all year.
Not I.If we miss on Bamba, who can see Wenyen bulking up and playing some small ball 5?
Wenyen/Washington/Vandy/Diallo/Quade could be a nasty combo in spurts.

It's just really hard to have any expectations for Wenyen or SKJ given that they showed us absolutely nothing last year. Wenyen the last month just wilted.
Look at his frame(Gabriel) he is not one that will be likely to bulk up no matter what he does in the off season,he could eat a store full of pop tarts and it ain't happeningBulked up I'd love it for quick small bursts of mins. Maybe not call it 5 position. But if Cal decides to trap as ball crosses half court that would be a long quick line up to Helter skelter it up a little bit for small periods of time
Well I don't completely disagree with you like some. I can see us doing that with Washington a very good rebounder and decent inside player taking the 5 spot. Put an insane long Diallo at the 3 Alexander at the 2 move Vanderbilt to the 4 and Washington to the five some too. Alot of versatility in next year's lineup add Johnson listed as a guard at 6ft7Ew. He couldn't even handle the 4. He'll get obliterated at center.
What position? If no Bamba and Ban doesn't return Humphries becomes very important.I'm not convinced he (Hump) will be here next year.If he is not then it is Richards and Wynyard at the 5 spot. I would think SKJ would be more suited to the 5 than Gabriel but we have almost no clue what either of them would do there against real competition
We are moving toward the same situation we had with he Murray class, just a different position being in question. It is not nearly as late in the day as it was then but our eggs are being slowly moved in the direction of one basket.
Sure. But you can't have any realistic expectations that this will happen. You know Frank Kaminsky showed nothing much sophomore season...and Junior year he exploded...
I think you never know. If you don't play, you really don't know. I think SKJ is way too underrated on here.

I can't recall SKJ logging more than 5 minutes in the 2nd semester. So I don't remember anything he contributed.you said it's hard to have any expectation. Most players usually show many sign after certain experience. Not freshman year.
Also, you really don't know SKJ...it's not like he didn't show potential. Just foul prone, that's all.
If we miss Bamba I highly doubt we can win in the end. Even if Bam comes back. Just not sure we'd have enough.
