Quote from a recent Pitino team speech.

He did really well at Iona and shouldn’t be so hard on himself that he had a complete rebuild in year one at St John’s, taking over a zombie program and had them on the cusp of the tournament. Definitely something to build on there.

Cal says this same exact thing in different words but the hate must be cloudy and hard to see thru.
Different words? I would agree with that but the meaning of those words are not same. Cal has said exactly what he means ... why can't you just believe him? When you do that, things begin to make sense ... you may not like it, but the ugly truth becomes apparent.

Feel free to prove me wrong with the whole interview and not taking one line sentence and running with it???

I have nothing to gain by proving you wrong. You will believe what makes sense to you or whatever you want. Discernment at times is needed but that requires an open mind to see a basic truth. Doing these simple things and you can prove yourself wrong.

I mean, he won 2 more games than SJU did last year. He chased some decent players out of town when he arrived who did the following this year:

David Jones - 21.6ppg at Memphis
AJ Storr - 16.0ppg at Wisconsin
O’mar Stanley - 13.9ppg at Boise State
Andre Curbello - 13.7ppg at Southern Miss
Kolby King - 12.0ppg at Tulane
Rafael Pinson - 11.7ppg at Bryant
Posh Alexander - 11.0ppg at Butler
Dylan Adda-Wusu - 8.0ppg at Seton Hall

That rebuild is on him.

Sometimes its best to clean house to start over with the culture you want.... As someone said he had them on the cusp of the dance

How did all those studs do the year prior!

They went 18-15 under a bad coach. Then moved on to different programs and all improved. Had Pitino kept some of them on the roster instead of bringing in a completely new one, he might have had more success.

I love Pitino for what he did here, but the Pitino love these days for a guy who hasn’t really done anything in 10 years is just strange to me.

I’ll be happy when his 15 seconds of fame is over.
I hope he sticks around forever. He's the funniest character in all of college basketball. In 30 years I hope his ghost is standing on sideline in a white suit screaming at his players for having poor lateral quickness.

Wow, had no idea Curbello went to SJU from Illini, only to transfer again. I thought he as going to take a huge jump after his freshman year. Obviously not a good shooter, but a heck of a play maker.

He will have them rolling by next year, in the tournament for sure. If he can recruit or get decent portal editions a couple years in a row they will be in the S16 before long.

If he would have kept Storr and Jones they would have easily made it:

Too much age gap IMO.
I don't think the kids will ever buy in and he's used to being revered by his players.
Can't see him pulling top HS talent and I don't think buying players in the portal will ever sit well with him.
Pitino is not a program first coach, he's a coach first coach.

They probably should have been in the tournament. They were the highest NET team left out. They had the resume to get a bid.

He then proceeded to complain about how much his team sucked. 🤣

If there's a thread about soybeans, what's the over/under for the post where Cal Hate rears its head?

Pitino has less tournament wins than Cal in more years coaching. Little P missed the tournament this year so the win lead is gonna grow.

No doubt in my mind they were better than Virgina. Woof lol. Their offense last night made me cry and I don’t even like them. They went 52 minutes of real life time without a basket.
