Quickley should get some votes for the National Player of the year.

He will have to have several more games like last night to even be in convo for NPOY

Yep. Quickley has the shooting efficiency to be in the conversation, but his points per game just isn't high enough while in the pure scorer role at the moment. He'll need a few more big games to get that up.

A cynical person could blame Cal's experimentation with Whitney and Brooks for Quickley's lack of POTY consideration. While he was trying to break those guys in, Quickley's minutes suffered the most. Through the first 7 games, Quickley averaged just 25.2 minutes per game. Over the next 20 games, he has averaged over 35 minutes a game. That's a 41% increase in minutes per game. Based on his points per minute this season, about 1/2 per minute, he missed out on like 36 points or so. One could argue even more since his lowest minutes of the season came against some of the weakest teams on the schedule. Nonetheless, it's reasonable to suggest there is, at least, 1 PPG "missing" from his season stats due to his lack of early minutes.

His efficiency yesterday was pedestrian.

His effiency for the season is better than Carey's and Azubuike's. His win shares, and offensive rating are better too. So is his PER. They have him on defense. He's also averaging nearly 23.5 and 9.5. He also doesn't have to sit with 30 seconds to go if the game is close. He, like Carey, is also a 36-37% shooter from 3. Difference is, Garza has taken 90 of them to only 19 or 20 for Carey.

Here's a stat I find hard to believe. He(Udoka) has only taken 119 free throws this year? I find it hard to believe a guy that big and strong isn't getting fouled more and getting to the line more. Only 4.25 attempts a game.

Myles Powell is probably gonna win it. He averages more ppg than Quickley (21 vs 16) although his 3pt % and free throw % are considerably lower.
