Can you tell me if these criticisms are out of line?
1) I get that we struggle protecting along the OL. I get our WR drop balls and our QB can be sub-par, but there are actually things that can be done to help our guys out. We can roll the pocket/move the pocket to buy time. Teams seem to be pinning their ears back on us...Thats when you hit them with a middle screen, draw and utilize their aggressiveness against them by using misdirection to make them be honest. If you can do that even a tad, then you can buy time to stretch the field with some downfield throws. It just seems like Dawson and Stoops keep trotting the same thing out there week in and week out and expecting a miracle to happen. Thats the definition of insanity. We pay Stoops millions of dollars and Dawson hundreds of thousands to MAKE ADJUSTMENTS and put our players in the best position to succeed.
2) We don't help out tackles out. We leave them on an island. When we do go with a 3 man backfield we still don't help. I don't get it.
3) Eliot says we are "multiple" on defense. Have you seen a 4-man front this year? We have struggled the past couple of games schematically and no adjustments are being made.
4) Ryan Timmons - How many mistakes does he have to make to get the hook? What disappointed me more than anything was the punt after the fumble. He wanted no part in catching it. He was scared to death. You cant have that out of your return man. That needs to be King.
5) Having your starting QB with "relax" on his hand is troublesome. That tells me he is scared. It tells me he is timid and that he probably is not giving off a ton of confidence in the huddle. Thats not good. Even if your QB is making some mistakes, he needs to give off confidence. Not for sure that is happening. Many say Drew Barker could do worse or better. How much worse can it get? We need to simplify. Get rid of the ball quickly. That calls for our QB to be accurate. If that isn't Towles, give Barker his shot.
6) I think a huge disconnect in the locker room is that we have recruits that were sold on one thing, and now those things arent being fulfilled. We are an "air raid" principled offense supposedly, and I havent seen anything air raid at all.
7) This is year 3 and we have absolutely no Identity still.
8) The disorganization on the sideline during games and during crucial moments and lack of a 2 minute offense is troublesome.
9) Special teams... Do I need to say more?
10) I by no means am calling for Stoops head. I still believe in him, but I think some questions need to be asked. I do think in year 3, Stoops needs to start earning those 2 raises he has received. It doesn't have to be in wins, but just progress both holistically and during the season. Vandy is CRUCIAL. If we dont win I can see a scenario where we have some transfers.
