Iowa Hawkeye back!

With Levis out I was thinking Kentucky would be using Duece Hogan at QB against South Carolina. Looks like he didn't play?

How's he been doing at Kentucky? Is he the 3rd string QB?

Listed on depth chart as an "Or" with Sheron. Hogan was a 4* coming out of a pretty good Texas HS with a solid offer sheet. Who knows what his status is, KY sports media didn't exactly fall all over themselves trying to find out. Maybe he's been dinged up.

If you can remember, he was made into a running joke at Iowa with what their head coach said about him. Not sure what kind of high school credentials he had. I was more hoping that the Wade kid would get a shot but Sheron I thought played well enough to win. I think we made big mistake in not running Rodriquez but then I don’t know the whole story behind that.

Kirk Ferentz apologized for making a stupid remark before last season's game at Nebraska about Hogan........just boneheaded by KF. I think that was the final straw for Hogan to decide to leave.

Pretty mind blowing Iowa sticking with Petras as innate as his numbers are. Seeing he couldn't beat out a guy like that is easy to see why he isn't playing here. And I know how bull headed Fraentz is, just saying.

Very embattled times in Iowa City right now for the two Ferentz men- Kirk and his son Brian, the Offensive Coordinator. Not just performance on offense, but the entire nepotism thing.

Good for Hogan he transferred because he'd never be playing here this year. Petras has taken 100% of the QB snaps and would be surprised if Kirk gives any other QB a snap all year.

Amazing they played MI like they did with almost no offense.

Stoops comments today seemed to suggest that if Kaiya had went down, it would have been Destin instead of Deuce.
I know thats how it appeared on tv.
Destin was right by the coaches with his helmet on like he was told to be ready.
Doubt Deuce ever factors in here.

He and Sheron have been going back and forth all year as the #2. Last week Sheron seemed to be in the lead so he got the play. Earlier in the season Hogan was the #2 and got reps when Levis went out. I don't think Stoops and Scang have settled on one or the other yet. The fans haven't seen enough of either to have an opinion yet either. We've only seen extended minutes from Sheron so far and the playbook was clearly stripped down.

Thanks guys for the info. So he might be all the way down to #4 on the depth chart? We had heard here he was maybe #2 at Kentucky now and figured he started Saturday only to see it looked like he didn't even play. If he's clearly no better than #3 or #4 on the depth chart now, and now being in his third year at the college level, will be interesting to see if he stays at Kentucky after this year-- even with Levis leaving at year end.

Maybe Hogan's been dinged up, Stoops isn't forthcoming with info on these guys, doesn't really need to be. Maybe one of our crack KY sports media types will ask at the next PC.

For a guy to be that highly rated and not get a sniff of playing time at either college he's been at suggests
A, he is injury prone
B, He bought in to his own hype he has no work ethic. Just coasting on his HS accolades
C, He has a major flaws in his game that coaches cannot correct.

Possibly a combination of all the above ??

I don’t remember Hogan getting reps when Will went out . Pretty sure it was Sheron.

Our starting quarterback was out and we had 2 backup quarterbacks in the game plan . He wasn’t one of them . He’s been at 2 programs and hasn’t been able to get on the field. One of your coaches even made an I’ll advised joke about him . He came to UK as a walk-on and hasn’t been offered a scholarship to date . I think it’s fair to say that the kid was just very overrated coming out of high school and is just not that good .

Feel sorry for Iowa, if they had ANY offense at all Hawkeyes would win the B10 West easy. But have much worse offense than even UK has shown so far.

Iowa's offense is currently ranked #131 out of 131. Gets no worse than that. It's such a mess. Indeed, the B1G West is there for the taking and it won't be Iowa this year like it was last.

Very fair to say for sure. If he's not yet been awarded a schollie I think that's quite telling.

We were quite surprised here that he'd transfer to another Power 5 program- especially without a scholarship. We thought he'd had been better off going to a lower tier DI program or even DII where he could be better assured of playing-- plus probably get a scholarship.

It is Iowa. Kirk's boy has been detrimental to the offense since he took it over. People get hung up on star ratings, but once you step on campus they become irrelevant. If he didn't break through in that room and if he's #4 at UK, he just might not have it.

And you know Hogan isn't on scholarship how? I've yet to anything to indicate he is or isn't, maybe I missed it.

Stoops said if Sheron went out then they had Wade ready with a package. So he was for sure #4 last game.

Earlier in the year Hogan took a snap & knee in mop up duty to end a game - maybe MU (?). Maybe just 1 snap.

You're likely right. He's your problem now; no longer ours :)
