Quentin Grimea in-home with Calipari this weekend

I'm sure this move only leads to confusing the KU fans that hang around here. Why would Cal waste time recruiting a kid that has KU lock on his birth certificate. As a Kentucky fan you sometimes think with Cal as coach, you never know. Even locks aren't safe when Cal enters a recruitment. If you are this kid and you get a call from Chambers, you might think it's cool, then John Wall, Eric Bledsoe, Ulis, Murray and Brandon Knight calls and tells you about their time at Kentucky, the call from Chambers is soon forgotten and probably blocked from the kids contact list. Who wants a bum like Chalmers calling? Jk. Chalmers was a tough dude and played longer than he probably should have in the NBA.

It fascinates me every year which players Cal goes after and which kids he ignores. Guess that's why he's the multimillion dollar coach and I'm just a fan.

I'm sure they'll say it means Zion talked Quickley into coming to KU.

The reason Calipari is currently recruiting Grimes and Garland is obvious. He wants to sign an elite point guard in this class, but he doesn't yet have a commitment from Quickley. A smart coach covers his bets. Grimes is a long, skilled guard who fits the mold of guards who have become NBA players with Calipari's teaching. Why let Kansas have him without a fight? If Quickley commits, then we will find out how serious Calipari really is about Grimes. In the meantime, it's a smart move.

I don't think it is just that. He wants a second guard in this class who can play big minutes next year.

Grimes is a combo guard who would be best served to play limited minutes as a primary ball handler while he hones his skills. He is like Jamal Murray.

Garland is a true point guard who can also spread the floor a little bit. He is already considering playing as a second point guard option at Duke alongside Jones, so why not Kentucky alongside Quickley?

I think Dotson and Williamson visited Clemson together this weekend and Hall of Fame Coach Self has his in-home Grimes tomorrow. Would be nice to close the Fall with #20, #2 and #11 players in this class.

Why are you here? Don't KU fans have their own forum where they discuss diddling children and toupee maintenance?

Hall of fame coach Self has his in home Grimes..the way you typed this I thought it was a CC type meeting....does Self have CC tendencies?

Good point. And the drive to Lexington for his parents ain't that bad.

Would probably be even nicer if your team didn't embarrass itself every March.

You can sign the Top 5 players in the class, and they'll still go down with their hands around their necks when it matters most.

Is it just me or does Grimes seem like the better player between he and Langford? Grimes seems a little underrated

If Cal makes him a priority then he'll go to UK. He's been begging for UK to get serious about him. The in-home may be the beginning of that.

KU once again going to miss out on all their top guard recruits (Devon Dotson is going to Florida) and be left scrambling in the spring for lower ranked guards and transfers. Rinse and repeat.

How ya been man.

Always has been the best Kansas poster on rivals.

Lol no! I just think he is a guy Cal will make more of a priority now.

With Bagley and Reddish out of the equation and a few recruits taking us off their lists, wouldn't surprise me at all if Cal reopens a few doors.

I know Reddish is one of the elite kids in the class, but with the kid never going anywhere but Duke, i am so glad the kid decided on Duke as early as he did. When you think elite talent, this recruiting class was odd in that it had three kids that are all elite and look to play the same spot on the floor at the 3. With Barrett, Reddish and Zion being in the same class and all three kids not going to the same school, with Reddish deciding Duke, Cal now can go full in with Barrett and make him Kentucky's main focus of the class. We all know Zion will play a lot of his playing time in the post while in college. Reddish just gave Cal something to point at Duke and K and say Reddish was their man from the start while you were ours. Reddish and Barrett could play on the court together, but with Reddish wanting to handle the ball a lot and Barrett being the very best in the class, when the ball is in Reddish's hands, it's not in Barrett. Zion can handle the ball for his size, but when you can't shoot from outside, why would any dude playing D on you let you drive the ball? Most would just give a few feet of distance and dare the kid to shoot. At kentucky with a roster with Barrett and Zion, Barrett is the dude with the ball, making plays and life in general easier for Zion.

Good post, and good poster, but for real break that f'n thing into a few paragraphs. I like your post and it's always hard as hell to read.

It might be for the best for KU. Self hasn't been real successful with Freshmen guards. He does better with veterans like Mason and Graham.

KU might be better off with Moore starting at PG and Newman at SG.

That with the Lawson brothers and Azubuike up front gives KU five veteran starters. Throw in Vick as a sixth man and the Freshman big they signed coming off the bench. That's a pretty good unit.

They have a good shot at Williamson as well. I believe Adidas is pushing him hard to KU.

Grimes hit 42% of his three pointers his senior year.

To answer the question you're all thinking.....

Shows how much you know. I wanted to know his free throw percentage and walking speed.

The more I watch vides of Grimes the more I think he could be the most complete guard in this class. He has quickness, ball handling, shooting, and passing. I would love to add him to our class.
