Any public presenters in the paddock? I have been traveling and doing events for the last 4-5 years now, ranging from 15-100 attendees. The material I have to present is tedious and can be a bit overwhelming but also ties into practical application, sometimes for CE sometimes not. When doing dinners I had to learn how to keep attention and pace things out before the last course would arrive etc. pretty much on my own.

Anyway wondering if anyone had any good points or interesting books they have read on the topic, I always try to make it entertaining open with a personal story etc.

Currently traveling with a QumiQ5 which has served well.

I used to do that a lot. I had crowds of 50 to 1000 regularly. (Five or so times a year with larger crowds.) To keep them attentive (I dealt with sales and then technical presentations.) I got personal or depicted something personal. People are naturally nosey even if they don't show it. If you want to keep an audience engaged, give out a little dirt. (Not overboard) For a 40 or 50 minute presentation I kept a key point about every ten or so minutes to peak their interest. Raise questions even if you don't ask them.
I usually only used a brief outline of few words but it varied according to topic and my expertise. One suggestion, don't BS unless your audience knows it's BS. I had a colleague do that once in a seminar... he was throwing BS about his experiences with engineering to a group of engineers. Not a good ending.. Be Good
