Prohm to Iowa State

Murray St seems to be THE place to go as a coach to step up to a higher division. Even in football they have had some good coaches like Houston Nutt.

I hope he sucks there. ISU fans are intolerable in some ways. I can't tell you how many locals told me Holberg would NEVER in a million years leave. So when he did i just laughed at them.

Like smash cat said though he's got a very good squad to start with. It won't last long though as they're mostly seniors and Montee Morris may go pro after this year (why not, he's a junior so not like his stock will ever improve).

Good hire by Iowa St. It was a matter of time before someone went after Prohm. Depends on how well he can recruit there on how long he stays.

Murray was so fun to watch last year and great pickup for Iowa St. Hoiberg wasn't the greatest recruiter but was one of the best out there at getting transfers. It will be interesting if Prohm can recruit better but I doubt it. Ames seems like a hard place to get the elite talent.

Laughing at MSU now for giving this guy a new contract for $500k a year to keep him after whining for weeks that Alabama never mentioned his name in their search. Now they have set a bad precedent for incoming coaches and the plan didn't even work.

Lost a possibility in Matt McMahon as well who was hired as a La Tech assistant. Not sure if he could or would come back to Murray as head man.

He had a 400K buy out so the Racers did not do very bad in this deal. They can pay more if they have to to get a good replacement. Coaches come and they go!

Frank Beamer coached there also, Murray's not a bad job in either sport. Mark Gottfried and Ron Greene had stints at Murray as well, I hate to see Prohm go.

Man...I'm from the Murray area...it stinks but I'm happy for Steve. HE'S A FANTASTIC person & coach.

As a WKU alum, I feel your pain Racer fans.

I'm still not over Darrin Horn. He should have stayed on the Hill and he would still be coaching. He would have had a chance to become the next Diddle if he stayed, IMHO.

WKU alum as well, most years WKU is one or two guys away from making some noise in the early rounds of the NCAAT,Harper may catch lightening in a bottle one of these years if he is there long enough(I've heard that some of the powers that be at WKU are not as happy with Harper as they once were)

Nice hire by Iowa State. I thought he was their best option other than perhaps Jeff Hornacek, who was briefly talked about as a possibility but I thought was more of a pipe dream.

You guys may be too young to remember but WKU used to have a powerhouse basketball program.
Murray St used to have some outstanding teams in the 80's and 90's. I still vividly remember Murray playing KU to the wire in '88 and giving Mich St a huge scare as Popeye really dominated the post.

Too young,I wish,I was speaking in terms of recent WKU history when they have been one or 2 players away in terms of getting to the big dance and winning a game. Lee &Co fit that mold but since that time the Hill is not the same

As a follower I predate Clem,Chapman and the Smith twins and played football against Dunn at Gamaliel so young is wayyy in my rear view mirror

Lol I understand where your coming from ;)

To be honest I wasn't referring to your post as I hadn't read it lol. But it is true none the less. WKU does not get the talent as it used to get. Since the NCAA smacked them down they hadn't been the same since.

Odd how something like this could make you happy. You should come to Murray someday and see how neat the town and University are.
