Colorado’s class is ranked 65th. Not gonna be as easy as he thought. Losing 7/8 is a reality check.
I have no clue whether Sanders can turn them into a winner, but it seems clear to me that their class ranking is low because they are focusing heavily on transfers. Look at how few HS recruits Colorado is taking compared to the number of transfers they have coming in.Colorado’s class is ranked 65th. Not gonna be as easy as he thought. If you look at 247sports’ overall ranking, which combines HS recruits and transfers, Colorado’s incoming class is ranked 21st.
Again, I have no idea if this will translate into wins, but Colorado looks to be trying to build a winner largely through transfers.
The only issue I see with being so committed to the portal is chemistry, particularly with the o-line and receivers. Not much of a problem with multi-year guys but would definitely be an issue with those who only have a year remaining imo. Same with a QB, think a lot of our issues outside of drops was Leary’s lack of knowledge with our receivers and the nuance of their routes. That’s why I feel Stoops is doing a good job of balancing the portal with hs recruits who have a high upside.I have no clue whether Sanders can turn them into a winner, but it seems clear to me that their class ranking is low because they are focusing heavily on transfers. Sanders is a joke. 4 years from now Colorado will be looking for a new Coach and Prime will be watching games on TV.I have no clue whether Sanders can turn them into a winner, but it seems clear to me that their class ranking is low because they are focusing heavily on transfers. Looks to me like they focused quite a bit on trying to improve their lines.IIRC, most of his HS recruits (and a good portion of the transfers) are skill position players. They were flat awful on both OL and DL this past year and I don't see much in this class that addresses that huge problem. You can only win so many games with 4* QBs, RBs, WRs and CBs.
If they win 7+ games, I think Prime will move on as bigger, more prominent programs come calling. His son and Hunter, clearly their 2 best players, will graduate and go to the NFL. He doesn't seem to be building a program for the long term. More like building his resume on a year-by-year basis to get the next big job.He did bring in 2 backup quarterbacks to hold clipboards while his son plays.
Next season is very important for Colorado. If they could win 7-8 games and show progress then Deion might do alright. If they have another losing season then I think it’s not gonna work out.
UL is taking this approach as well. 21 and 17 transfers the last two years. Many seem to disagree but I see that as a Ponzi scheme. In 4 years you will be dependent on bringing in 25 transfers to start every other year. Quick pick me up, but not sustainable.I have no clue whether Sanders can turn them into a winner, but it seems clear to me that their class ranking is low because they are focusing heavily on transfers.
