So if UCLA beats Kentucky then is Alford a better coach than Cal? The coaches can only do so much. Plus, UCLA peaked later in the season and did fairly well in the tourney being one of the last teams in.
To me this looks like a fairly tough test to Kentucky. First it is their first true road game on someone else's home court (American Airlines arena is not the home court for USF plus there were like 100 to 1 Kentucky fans versus USF fans. The Duke game was on a neutral court. This game is mainly going to have UCLA fans. Second, although Ulis may play, there are a number of "ifs" concerning him. UCLA has a big front line with experience and Skal has not shown a great production against teams of a similar nature to date. Kentucky has shown poor free throw shooting and with a number of big players expect quite a few fouls.
The good news is UCLA is really not that good. If guard play really is the key then advantage Kentucky. Also, even though Kentucky has not been firing on all cylinders offensively their defense has been really good and that is what will win the game.
