we re gonna have a nice core of returning players from a 10 win team. Our dline has been patched together for most of the season developing some depth and we without a doubt will upgrade our dbs. Wallace will be a stud next year. Offensively we ll still have a strong oline and a group of very good receivers to join levis. There will be more guys transfer in. Especially if all the sudden we look like a serious threat in the East.

let’s say CRod and square return to go with all else. Where are we ranked in the preseason? Some people will say it doesn’t matter but in cfb where a team ends and begins the following season that starting point seems to determine a teams ceiling.

Off the top op my head you have Bama, UGA, both of the OSU's, Baylor, Michigan, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Clemson, Wake being near locks to start ahead of us. Thats 10 already and Throw in a couple teams that kill the portal and get guys back and I like us in that 15-20 area.

Won't be ranked preseason, won't be talked about as having a top 5 qb in the sec, and will play as stoops prefers... With disrespect for fuel.
"Kentucky lost Paschal, McCall, and Corker... Too many questions on defense. The only productive wr on the roster got drafted."
We all know what the narratives will be.

Yeah if I had to put money on it I'd guess unranked preseason. We're Kentucky, people won't respect us.

I'd think that beating the B1G runner up without 1/3 of the 1's on defense would change some world views, but I think the people who are involved with these things still see Kentucky as a poor program that has gotten a few good players the last couple of years.
I didn't think we could hold up without Paschal, Ox, Jones, Weaver, Ali, and Rosenthal myself, but here we are. We seem to be in next man up territory. But national guys don't pay attention to that.

It really depends on who returns…if just a few key guys return, I think the preseason perception will be worthy of being ranked

OFENSE
Wandale, CROD, Rosenthal

DEFENSE
Bully, Jordan Wright, Square or Jacquez Jones

I’m not saying all of them should be required to be ranked, but I’m saying these are key guys that will heavily influence perception for preseason voters.

Top 10 recruiting classes will make them pay attention.

The one thing that gives me pause about next season is how our division seemingly will improve. UT is going to be decent with Hooker and Tillman returning and then you also have USC with Rattler coming in that can make some noise. And then our cross division game being at Ole Miss is another really tough one. Just eyeballing it I like us at 8-4 or 9-3 next year.
Well thanks man, I needed some positivity heading into the sack tonight. If your doomer ass has us at 8-4 next year, we should be in for a hell of a season.
You are right about a couple of things though. The filthy Vol hype train will be rolling next year, as will the annual "USCjr if for real this year because ____."
They won't rank 4 east teams preseason so we ain't sniffing it. I actually like your take unironically because it gives a real example of what every moron paid to write for a national outlet will think going into next season.

The SEC now will push us back to being 3rd or 4th in the East picking teams like UT,UGA,Florida, USCjr and maybe the Flying Drinkawaddles!

I think you guys crying disrespect are going to be wrong.

Depending on how the roster shakes out, I think we’ll be top 20 preseason.

A lot of you all that cry disrespect forget that for many years, we simply had not earned it. Stoops is changing that. I think it’s going to start reflecting it. I’ve told you all for years, you want respect you have to take it. We’re doing that now.

Well clearly they need to figure out the left tackle situation or next year is gonna be rough. Dare is about the most important recruit to me, somebody get that kid a Porsche lol!

We will be unranked…. again. But the media will be in love with USCjr and Rattler and have them 2nd in East and preseason 23 or so because they won 7 games this year.
I think the hype train for Levis is gonna be there too, Luginbill was already hyping him as a 1/2 pick yesterday.

Wake won't be relevant next season... They're going to have at least a dozen, if not more, leave. They had 9 super seniors this season.

At least, not in terms we care about.

In all fairness, they have upgraded the QB position by an incredible amount. They have some needs but to think Rattler and the OU TE won't improve them is a hope. But the flip side is they got UF after they had folded up camp and AU lost their QB. They could easily have been a 4 win team. But losing Harris is a big blow for them, I don't see them starting the season ranked over UK.

They will rank Tennessee and South Carolina ahead of Kentucky.

You’re correct, Rattler is an upgrade, but the SEC and national media have been over ranking Mizzou and USC for a while.

This.

We'll be picked to finish 6th in the East below Missouri and South Carolina. They'll say 6-6 is the ceiling for this team. Meanwhile, programs like North Carolina, Indiana, and Iowa State will be picked as potential playoff contenders.

I really think some of you guys are going to be surprised. A lot of you have been asking for respect before we really earned it. We’ve earned it now and I think you’ll see that reflected moving forward.

I hope you’re right but explain to me how the media, especially SEC media, have hung on Drinkowitz’s nutsack and overranked USCjr so much the last few years.

Those prognosticators have had to swallow those predictions for more than a few years... they don't like to always be wrong, as it's their job.

Levi coming back will put us somewhere in the 20-25 range...

Go CATS!

sad to say.....however we wont be ranked.....maybe in the also receiving votes. to many people still hooked on florida, lsu, oklahoma, tennesse, usc jr, texas..... just to name a few. even though we have beaten a higher ranked team, all of them in the top 20 for the last 4 bowl games. it carries no weight with the traditional teams of the past. they still view the cats as a flash in the pan no matter what our record shows.

my brothers (UT fans) agreed with this approach - no ranking next year
