PREPARE YOURSELF . . . This is Unreal

When I was growing up, I asked: What is all this UK basketball talk? I was told it was a near religion.

Love this quote from the article: "to go somewhere people cared that much. Turns out, the only place like that is Kentucky."

Article should be required reading for lower level season ticket holders. Upper level season ticket holders already know this.

Thanks for posting. Great read. I live in Arkansas now (not by choice) and I get asked all the time why are you a Kentucky fan? I told them unless you were born and raised in Kentucky it would be impossible to explain. You can take the boy out of Kentucky, but you cannot take the Kentucky out of the boy.

I call it "greatness". The feeling you get at Rupp arena when the crowd cheers you on.

Not many places give that type of feeling. You even experience it as a fan.

Yeah I wish more talent was in the state lately as I really like having an in state kid but there is just none that are good enough and want to sit on the bench for some time like Hawkins and Willis did.

Was just thinking: if Cal set up a JV team with walkons it would be mostly Kentucky born/raised players that would turn down scholarships for the chance to wear a Kentucky uniform.

Cal wants to make economic changes in young basketball players lives. Kentucky is full of people looking for change in their economic fortunes and many are high school basketball players.

Wow. Just excellent. Gives you a lump in your throat. We as fans sometimes forget these are just kids. What a great article. Thanks to Derek and Kyle Tucker.:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

It was so hard for me to read this and not get emotional.
Derek has been one of my favorite players. Every time he had the ball in his possession, I yelled go ahead take the three pointer, I know you can make it.
I will miss not seeing him in the lineup next season.
Thank you Derek for your contribution and Good luck to you in life.

Bev posted this a few weeks back, but I'm glad it was re-posted for those who missed it the first time.

We need a DW on every team if at all possible.

And people question why it is important to have a young man grown up in Kentucky to be on the team. Now that's a real SMH thought.

It takes a real Moron to not understand why Kentucky born and bred kids are special to our program. You'd have thought Darius Miller would have taught them a thing or two. Without him, even wth the OAD's, we haven't had a title since 98. Period.

Fantastic read. Willis can really express his love for us and understands our love for him. Only at Kentucky. Really proud of the kid.
