If Ming gets the boot, who do you guys want us to pursue?

-Bohannon at Alabama has UK roots.
-Reida is an assistant at Bama, and former UK player.
-Frank anderson coach, pitching coach whiz at UT
-Dan Mcdonnell's pitching coach has always been a favorite here
-Others?

Erik Bakich would be my absolute first call. Throw the house at him. Cliff Godwin at ECU would be high on the least. Some others I’d like:

~Greg Goff
~Scott Berry
~Scott Brown if you wanted to go assistant coach route.

UL pitching coach or Tennessee's pitching coach would be my top 2 choices, which pains me to say, but they've been producing.

I'm done with the UK connections. We've had both Henderson and Mingione that were former UK assistants and tied to Cohen. Ready to move off that tree.

Anderson at UT is kind of old at 63. Not sure he's all that viable as a head coach.

I like Bakich at Michigan.

Link Jarrett at Notre Dame

Tennessee assistant coach, Josh Elander is recruiting extremely well.

Roger Williams at Louisville would excite me, but I have regularly heard he's not really head coach material.

Not even a former player?

I didn't know Anderson was that old. That probably rules him out. Bakich or Jarrett leaving their jobs for this one would surprise me.

I'd make Bakich tell me no....more than once.

Think the ECU coach is an older guy too unless I'm thinking of someone else.

I think ECU coach is just 44. He's done well but dont know that he's really elevated that program much more than they were. He's been there since 2015.

I just want to kind of change the culture and get fresh blood in. I'm not saying I'm totally against it, but I'd rather see someone with no connections.

Just to add more to this. I think that this is what Vitello has done for Tennessee. He's come in and told them how he's doing it and that they better get on board. He's not let anyone dictate how he's running his team and he's made demands that he's now put into contracts. I want that type of guy. To come in and not just kowtow to the status quo, but who sees the problems, knows the fixes and demands them. Part of that comes with success, as we've seen with Stoops, but part of it is how the coach carries themselves.

Andy Green....Chicago Cubs bench coach. Salary, I can't find it. Would take Roger Williams in a heart beat!

Vitello's a thug and a punk!!!

So what's your comment on my post about the incident that happened yesterday in the Alabama game?

He got ejected yesterday and should be suspended by the league. Again, I think he's an ass, but it also helps his team play with a certain swagger.

Wait till there's a brawl and then let's see. That said...he's a perfect fit for the. Filthy orange athletic dept.
TN has guys who couldn't get the ball out of the infield for 2 years are now suddenly hitting 400 foot HRs. Not too obvious, don't they test for PEDs any more?

This is kinda mean and I am not trying to start anything, but I was thinking the same about some players on our team.

I don't know that this is necessarily true, but it is extremely curious how they have practically no one that is struggling, at least no one playing significant time. Their top 8 are hitting .252 or better, with their top 7 hitting .294 or better. Their 9th guys, who they have changed out a lot are hitting like .367 and .321.

Pitching wise.... just 2 guys on the entire freaking team have ERAs above 4.

How do you get everyone to play that well, especially pitching? It's crazy.

Some of these guys have been really good for a while. Gilbert, for example, hit .350 as a freshman in 2020 before the season ended, and last year he hit 10 home runs, so it isn't all that surprising that he's hitting well this season, although he has just 2 homeers. Still, it’s amazing that no one seems to be slumping or struggling. They lose ace Blade Tidwell, and no problem… they’ll just plug in a freshman in who has a 1.50 ERA. A freshman who hasn’t played baseball in 2 freaking years… he has a 1.46 ERA in SEC play. How is that possible?! He didn't even play baseball as a HS junior or as a HS senior and he suddenly comes into UT and can shut down SEC hitting? This kid came out of TN ranked the 8th best player in the state. UK gets the number 1 player 2 years ago and he hasn't developed enough to get an SEC start and has a 5.23 ERA in league play.

There's that word again......development.

Juiced I'm telling you. As obvious as it gets. Tennis balls in the bats also help tremendously.

Like who?

The one that sorta comes to mind is Chase Estep. You look at his stats from a year ago compared to and it’s definitely an improvement.

Someone asked how does a team go from being bottom of the SEC to the top in almost every category. There’s a lot to that. But mainly it comes down to winning. Now, before you come after me with pitchforks, let me explain.

It’s a lot easier to put a little extra effort into practice, the cages and the off the field things when you’re winning. It’s more fun. You play better. You play looser. Guys want to play for a coach who they know have their back. They’re more open to changing mechanics. It takes a lot of pressure off the guy batting when he trusts the guy behind him. You have an off day on the mound, that’s ok. I can trust my bullpen to keep us afloat.

Now, is there more going on at Tennessee than just that? No one knows. But they play like they have nothing to lose. And that’s dangerous for the rest of the conference.

Don't know CE personally, but am very close with someone who knows the family intimately and you can bet your bottom dollar that he's not one to do that!

You guys that are insinuating that one of our players is cheating, with absolutely no knowledge of his situation, disgust me. Do you know about weight rooms? College Strength Programs? Developing from a kid to a Man? Correcting a flaw in your swing? Understanding how the pitcher is trying to work you after 2 years of SEC experience? He has just DEVELOPED into a better hitter. Same thing goes with the UT hitters. You know nothing about them.

I never said he was on anything or even implied it. All I said was compare his stats from a year ago. And if he is the that Mingione said hit the weight room and really worked on his swing, then good for him. You can’t argue with the results.

Nobody is insinuating anything. Calm down.

What I said was I thought about how some of our players are hitting HRs in relation to the UT players. Everyone saying "juicing", and I thought about it. Mingione said on the broadcast that they dedicated themselves to the weight room, so ok. Good for them for making a drastic turn-around.

Also, don't scold me for thinking that way. It was a thought, and I did not accuse. I loved watching some of our past players, Pompey and Shinn to be exact. If you have followed them since leaving UK, then you don't have to google their suspensions. It makes you think about their time in college baseball. Again, not accusing but it does make one stop and think.

He's 63... amazing coach and all, but seems unlikely he'd dip his toe back into college baseball at that age with the cushy bench coach position.
I know he is older but I bet he has 5-7 years to get this thing righted and then hand it off. Might want to prove he can do it again.

I think the no-brainer is UL coaching staff for one main reason: recruiting in college baseball is local and recruiting on the state level is extremely important. I think part of it is because of scholarship limitations. If you can get good Kentucky kids on reduced tuition, you can use your scholarship bullets for the best out of state kids. Either way, most of these teams (with the exception of Vanderbilt- who plays by different rules) have a bunch of guys from their state and region. That is why a historically talent rich place like Louisiana has structural advantages Kentucky doesn’t have and makes Louisville’s success even more impressive.

I would put together a package for their pitching coach Williams and their hitting coach Snider, like a HC/ AHC type thing. Snider has produced with Kentucky guys like Will Smith and out of staters like Henry Davis who was the first pick in the draft last year.
