The young man showed up today.

14 points
6 rebounds
3 blocks
1 steal
1 assist

He looked convincing going to the rim as well and had two nice spin moves that led to scores. I feel like Calipari will run more offense for him when opponents go to a man-to-man defense against Kentucky. Alex is at the very least competent with his back to the basket. Skal likely becomes the stretch big in the frontline as the season progresses.

Alex will continue to make strides. Coming off an ACL injury, I'm not sure we could ask for much more in terms of progress.

Agreed! So proud of Alex. More so than anybody on the team, I want him to get drafted and have a long nba career the most. He's put in his time and has earned it!

Louisvilles 21 feet of suck, slow footed big men had no answer for him. If we had kept feeding him Alex could have feasted even more. He's playing aggressive and its paying off.

Need a full game of that intensity.

Those multiple plays were unstoppable, his assertiveness comes and goes.

Such potential.

Agree 110%. I always assumed it would take him a few months to get a bounce back in his step, literally and figuratively. Seems like body and mind are both recovering nicely.

The 2011 team really had one low post scoring threat - Jones. I expect Poythress to begin to assert himself more and more as the season moves. Very similar skill set to Terrence.

UK's guards are every bit as good as that 2011 team, with this team being deeper. I think with another 80 to 90 days basketball remaining, we will continue to see Murray emerge as one of the best scorers this program has ever seen. Having a kid like Murray is March give UK a real shot. Having a backcourt mate like Ulis makes it even more interesting. If Poythress can just give UK stability as an interior scorer, it buys Skal more time to develop, and hopefully this thing can come together in three months for a real run at the Final Four.

If he'd play like that every game he'd be 1st round pick. He's a freak of nature athletically. At 6'8 or 6'9 and around 240lbs of pure beast he should be a force. He should have that killer instinct like Poe said. He should try to dunk it every time he touches the ball. He should be the roughest, toughest, nastiest, most aggressive player on the court every game. I want to see him dunk it one somebody or block somebodies shot and then get in their face. Just keep playing like ya did today Alex.

Yeah if he'd quit turning the dat gum ball over so much.

Alex played like the man he is. I'd like to see that from him consistently every game. He, Tyler, Marcus. Dom, and Jamal won the UL game. Alex and Marcus should be starting with Skal on the bench just like today. And Murray needs to quit trying to force drives like a bull in a china shop, and let Tyler handle the ball. He doesn't have the ability to carve up elite Div1 defenses with the ball. Ulis does.

Alex inside the 2-3 zone with Tyler at the point was lethal today. I loved the way Alex was in "attack" mode all game.

Way to go Alex, Bravo.

He was awesome to watch today. Hopefully this will help his confidence and he can keep building on this effort. We really need him to be consistent going forward.

Alex is coming along and played a great game. He and Ulis both were men today. Murray, on the other hand played about as poorly as I have seen a UK guard play in one game. We need Murray to quit driving so much and just be our deadly shooter. Great job Alex!!!
