Did anyone else have issues exiting the stadium on Saturday night? Exiting the Orange lot is far and away the worst I have seen in the 15 years I have parked there. There is zero pedestrian traffic management. There is zero traffic direction in the lot and for some damn reason they had Alumni closed off toward Nicholasville Road and I had to exit out to Tates Creek. Just a total disaster. Basically sat in the lot for over an hour without moving.

They really need to fix this or there is going to be a ton of people leaving early so that they don't have to sit in it anymore.

We got out of the orange lot to Nicholasville rd to New Circle Rd FASTER than we ever have in the past. I would like to hear from others. Maybe we were lucky!!

We got out of orange lot in a reasonable amount of time. I will agree that the pedestrians payed no attention to MOVING vehicles. That's what kept us held up the most. Whomever had a gap in between the masses was able to merge or head out first.

Similar issue for me in the Blue Lot. I have parked in the Blue Lot for 25 years and from the time I exit the stadium, get to my car and drive home, it usually takes less than 30 minutes. (I live about 5 miles from the stadium). Saturday night, it took 1:20 minutes just to get out of the Blue Lot and another 20 minutes getting off Alumni to Tates Creek. That was the worst traffic snarl leaving the game that I have ever seen.

Why UK won't pay for traffic cops after the game is beyond me. Why they insisted on keeping Alumni Drive one lane each way when they just completely renovated it is also beyond me. Provincial thinking.

I noticed that those of you who have the parking passes really close to the stadium may get the best spots to tailgate, but you are screwed when the game is over and folks are leaving the stadium. If it were me, I am getting a parking spot near the stadium, but I am parking as far away as possible so I do not have to deal with folks walking around my vehicle after the game and possible damaging my vehicle or me accidentally hitting someone. Best thing if you have those spots is to go ahead and plan on a post game tailgate until most folks have left the stadium and traffic clears up some.

If you leave as soon as the game is over then you should expect issues...stick around have a little drink, snack or desert and listen to all the post game shows and you can drive right out

I walk to and from the games, and wholeheartedly agree they need some traffic cops to direct pedestrians and autos. We had to basically wait for a break in traffic to dart across Alumni, which at night, with many intoxicated fans leaving, is a recipe for tragedy. There was no one to stop cars so people could cross the road, and it is really dangerous to not have any control over the fans exiting.

It was a mess. Cooper was terrible trying to get out of my lot and then Nicholasville was worse. Looking for an alternative this weekend.

I parked in green lot but leave after 3rd quarter for night games & enjoy listening to Tom & Jeff call the game on drive back to Louisville. I tape them all & never miss a play. I miss more plays at the stadium...never could hear or see the bad flag on hitting the QB. Everyone in section was asking what happened. Couldn't here pa or ref mic.

Love tailgating and opening of games...if only games on TV in parking lot were not delayed were you could not hear crowd reaction I would go back out to tailgate and watch in bag chair. So many drunks and Coaches in the stand...getting home after 1am is just not worth anymore for this old man.

People complaining traffic in lexington, in any scenario, cracks me up.
took us 30 minutes to get out of blue lot. However as someone above pointed out it was because everyone stayed to the last second which is a good thing. Really better to have a short tailgate for 30 minutes after the game and preserve your sanity.

We were in one of the parking garages and it took us 45 minutes to get out on the main roads.

These are terrible everywhere. I took a client the Ohio State v. Southern Cal game a few years ago in Columbus and we parked at the top of a garage about 3/4 mile from the stadium. Took an hour to get out of the garage, we just had to sit and wait until traffic cleared, no chance at all to leave right after game.

Made a sandwich... drank a water... calmed down a bit... Profit.

We did the same thing. Listened to the post game shows, have a beverage and some food. Relaxed for about 45 mins to an Hour and didn't have to deal with much traffic leaving the stadium.

I thought traffic was bad also... Stayed till game was over... Took an opportunity to get in the Orange Lot, exit traffic ASAP.... Made it N-Ville Rd. and from there is was bad... Got home @ 1:30/Louisville.... We've had larger crowds that have stayed till the end... This isn't a new thing but sure seemed bad, and I got no clue... It is what it is... But with TV making the live experience a PITA and then this the Parking Fiesta... I'm getting that microwaving feeling again.... I can tolerate parking issues, but hate a TV game, and they're all TV games any more...

AD's and College Presidents...... "enhancing the game experience" is BS..... Season Ticket + Park Pass = HD BIGASSTVBEERFOODPISSER....
You're screwing your own team/fans... and then BSing them..... Speed up the game... Let the TV viewer get caught up using the IReplay or delayed replay........ And more port-a-pots please............

When you are paying a sitter you kinda would like to get home as soon as you can and not sit around. There were plenty of game in 2007,2008 and 2009 that went to the horn and there were about 7K more people in the stands and this was not a problem then.

The obsession with traffic by the UK fanbase always amazes me. I don't know any other fanbase that leaves games early in large numbers like our fanbase does so as to "beat the traffic". Some of these SEC towns are literally in the back woods and there is gridlock for hours and hours after each game, but those stadiums are full until the last whistle (especially if the game is close).

Email the AD if you want to complain, but to me, this just comes with the territory if you go to a football game with 60,000-70,000 people in one place.

I've been in the red lot for years, plenty of big games where it was a packed house and everybody stayed until the end. The traffic has never been this bad.
We fired up the grill, and drank some beers and cussed flor fans while the traffic got better. But its definitely a change in the traffic patterns that is causing it.

For the amount it costs to go to a game now it makes no sense to me why anyone goes through all of the trouble to begin with and then decides to leave early. If traffic is your pet peeve you are attending the wrong event to begin with.

As I noted earlier, I have been parking in the same lot/place for 25 years and I have been there with capacity crowds with games that go down to the last possession and have never seen anything close to this past weekend. The change in traffic patterns and the new round-abouts on Alumni seem to be the culprit.

we had blue lot passes and left after the buzzer and were home in 15 minutes (I live 4.4 miles from commonwealth)...and that was even being routed out to new circle instead of being able to shoot down alumni (which i don't get, but whatever). Guy i work with is in the cooper drive lot and said it took him over an hour to get back to Beaumont. So, in the end, i guess its about like it always has been. hit it right, no real problem. get behind gramps, keep the cooler up front.

Hopefully the pain of this experience was communicated to the campus and local police. New plans always have unexpected problems arise, give 'em a chance that issues were identified and will be improved this coming week.

Per UK the problem with traffic was that they did not get UK police in their spots until after the final buzzer due to a potential field rush situation. Normally they send the police to their positions at the start of the 4th quarter.

This makes sense to me. I think at other times we actually have rushed the field which spread everything out.

It was like Thunderdome after the game and there was very little police presence.

We parked in purple, and it was no worse getting out than when we used to park in blue over in the corner by University and Alumni. Just like then, we decided not to spend 20-30 minutes inching along to get out and instead turned the grill back on, had another hot dog and a beer, and 30 minutes after the game got out with no trouble.

Also they said the blue/purple lots were pretty much empty so that is why they made orange lot exit off Tates Creek.

Saturday was an exception. Having been in Orange lot for 15 years I had never seen something like that.

If you want to avoid all that hellish traffic, stay home Saturday and watch it on TV.
I'll buy your Orange pass and suffer the gridlock for you.

Red lot was the worst I have seen in 20 years. I am not sure why they are forcing all traffic to Nicholasville Road and not letting cars go through campus toward the library. Terrible decision. I don't care if traffic is bad but no reason for it to be the worst it has ever been.

Lexington's roads are too narrow for the population. The city has a history of allowing ill-conceived projects in exchange for campaign contributions to the city council (North New Circle Road for example). If a little old lady calls her councilman or woman enough complaining that people are driving too fast in her neighborhood, that council member will completely disregard what their city engineers recommend and put up the dang stop sign just to shut the little old lady up. Getting from point A to point B is much more difficult than it should be because of the previously mentioned reasons plus the large number of poor drivers on Lexington's roads. You know the ones. They're too busy texting to notice the light's turned green. They drive 25 mph in the left lane with no intention of turning left even with the right lane clear. They think the proper speed to merge on New Circle Road is 35 mph, etc. Now, put this population in a confined area with inadequate roads and ZERO traffic officers and you have a very bad outcome.

When you start sitting in traffic for hours every day of your life get back to me. If I only had to sit in traffic for 30-45 mins I don't know what I would do.

I don't disagree that total traffic is much tamer in Lexington than in a big city. HOWEVER, on a per-capita basis, Lexington is absolutely terrible. I've driven in lots of big cities. In most cases, traffic is backed up because there are just too many cars trying to use the road at the same time. Nearly all of the drivers are doing the correct thing and not exacerbating the problem by using their Lexington/Tiny Kentucky Town driving skills to add to the back up. If these bad Lexington drivers tried to do that sh!t in Atlanta, Birmingham, Cincinnati, Louisville, Chicago, Indianapolis, etc., they'd be run off the road or shot.

I park in the Green lot and it went nowhere for a long while. Something about a couple of ambulances tying up traffic. However, about 15 minutes after the coaches show, we were able to cut through the red lot, down University toward the library and down Woodland with no problem.

For years, we used to sneak out a side gate in red lot by BCTC/LCC on to cooper about 30 mins after the games, never had a problem. This season, the police are parked in front of the gate and will not let anyone through. It's a mess this season.
