* Disappointing loss for the Cats against a Notre Dame team that isn’t very good. Yet again, thought the Cats lacked a lot of composure during the game and at the end. You can sort of understand that with freshmen, but this team is 20-23 years old. You have to be aware of the moment, and we just aren’t … it’s been a way too common problem during the Cal era.
* That said, first, let’s keep in perspective, the Commonwealth experienced one of the worst tornado events in its history … certainly the worst in my lifetime since 1974. We have lost a lot of lives and there are still a number of people who are still unaccounted for. We will be grieving, recovering, and rebuilding from this for months and years to come. Pray for our fellow Kentuckians and then give of yourself to help so many that are in need and will remain in need for a long time.
* Back to the game, Oscar is our best player. Our most reliable and consistent player. His effort is impressive. Beyond that, not sure what we have at the moment. Wheeler was a complete liability tonight.
* Cats were 2-19 from the 3pt line, -15 for the game. Cats are not going to beat anybody shooting the ball like that. This stat and our ongoing lack of composure were the difference in the game.
* If you watch the game objectively, Notre Dame probably doesn’t have the players that KY has, but their constant movement on the offensive end is so much better than the Cats are when we have the ball. Their movement was just better than whatever talent advantage we might have. We are simply still too stagnant in the half court and seem to commonly play too tight.
* Up Next: Cats travel to play Ohio State next Saturday at 5:00 pm on CBS. If the Cats don’t come ready to play, they will get spanked by the Buckeyes … we may anyway. I don’t think the Cats have proven they are a top 20 or 25 team at this point. We have zero good wins and one bad loss.
