please do not talk yourselves into tuff opener.

Yep, I fully expect our offense to look like a killing machine against ULL. We need it. We'll need all the confidence we can muster for the next 3 games.

agreed...but if something were to happen and it be close,it wouldn't necessarily mean we're not good either. Lots of factors determine the final score of a game...but I do think, if this game is close, 6 wins is likely our ceiling. If we handle ourselves, 8 is our probable ceiling...if we flat out smoke em', who knows? Whatever the case, I can't freaking wait!

Cats are going to absolutely roll in week one. Game will be a major beating, IMO.

The offense will be froggy. Hudspeth is a good coach. Defense will be facing a solid RB. It'll be a good test for us to loosen up before jumping in the frying pan.

Would have to say he is more then a solid RB...one of best we will face this year.

It is a great test for us right off.

ULL is a solid team, they won't fear or roll over for UK. They will play their game. Whether it is a "tuff" game for UK depends more on UK than it does ULL.

Considering that CBS ranks ULL ahead of UK, I think it's totally reasonable to expect a stiff test. I think we'll win, but I wouldn't expect a walk over at all.

that CBS poll is a joke. Based on previous years performance and not what I would call any hard analysis AT ALL. We should beat them handily but I won't base the rest of the season based on the score of this one. Now if we were to lose, that's a whole nother matter but we ain't losing this one.

McQuire got 2/3 of his yards in 5 games. They only played two real teams and got destroyed in both, and McGuire was controlled in both. To call him one of the best backs we'll face, when we play in the SEC is way over the top. ULL is good at their level, not at ours.

CBS has mental problems if they think there are 60+ teams better than UK.

Fair point, I've seen him play quite a lot ....don't underestimate this RB

Hard for me to say UK will roll without seeing either team, given where the program has been and is trying to dig out of. Just like with the polls, it is earned in my mind. So I will watch the game with cautious optimism that UK really is a team that should blow out ULL, but not yet ready to talk smack about it before the game just based on names and conferences.

The game will never be close...51-13

Don't agree with that margin. ULL is a good team and they won't roll over for UK. Nor will they be intimidated. UK will win but it will probably closer to 35 to 14 or something like that. ULL will make a good showing of it but I don't think they will win or really even get seriously close. They might lead for a quarter or so like UL Monroe did last year but that's about it.

Last year they had losses to La Tech (-28pts), Ole Miss (-41), Boise St (-25) and App St (-19).

Common opponent with UK ( La Monroe) was a 7 point win...UK had a 34 pt win over ULM.

Lose their starting QB (who was also 3rd leading rusher), top WR (yards and targets), 2nd RB (most attempts), 2 OL starters...from defense they lose 2 starting DL, 2 starting LBs, 2 starting CBs, starting safety, DC , punter and kicker.

They will be well coached...but we should really beat them with ease.

We will be focused and dialed in. Judging from our players comments, it seems they are focused on one game at a time. Also it appears they have a great deal of respect for ULL. I expect some early juice and nerves but they will settle in and put them away in the 3rd.

Way way to reasonable to be posting on here. :)

would love to bet ULL first quarter and then Cats in the second half. UK will probably be over hyped with new stadium and will need to calm down and get going.

Cats are a solid 15 point favorite. A 14.5 - 17 point favorite wins about 87% of the time.

Peace

I hope we kill them, but I can't set expectations too high and have them destroyed. I was at the WKU game in Nashville and that has now made me a little cautious about pre-season predictions.

Hudspeth is a good coach and ULL is a good team. But ULL will be breaking in a new quarterback. Terrance Broadway quarterbacked ULL in 4 bowls, but he is gone now. So they will be much more 1-dimensional. Their running game is high caliber and Elijah McGuire is a great player. But Stoops has the entire month of August to prepare for ULL's running game and force the Cajuns to throw the football. The absences of Hatcher and Walker not as important against a running team like ULL as they will be against Spurrier the following week. ULL does not have the DBs to cover our receivers. Towles should have a huge opener, and we should win this game by a couple of TDs.
