Pitino suspension long enough?

Considering that it is totally implausible that McGee organized all of this for a year without Pitino's knowledge when McGee didn't even work there any more, I'd say he got off pretty easy.
Also his suspension will probably be moved to the beginning of the season because when they tried to suspend Boheim for ACC games that was determined on appeal to be an abuse of discretion.

I think they came off the 10 game precedent given that he was not involved in his words. I think the more important question will be if he accepts the guilty plea given to him and coaches next season or claims innocence and retires in order not to serve the penalty. The school really needs to step up and make the decision for him. Its time to clean house and move on from this.
Hell no. If the University had any integrity, he would have "resigned" long ago.

I'm just the opposite. I'd much rather they got another post season ban and reduction of scholarships. And a much longer suspension for ratino!
5 games is nothing. At least give him as many as Larry Brown and Boheim got. I am not quite ready to celebrate because this is long way from over. The banner remains and Pitino is still coach with no more post season bans. Many UL fans are celebrating a nothing finding. Jeff Goodman does not think this is a serious penalty. Is he right about that? Maybe. We will know once UL appeals.
The man was in charge of a program that paid for hookers for minors. How he is allowed around young adults period is insane.

Yeah, considering they're about to remove 158 games from his record, they probably just figured they didn't need to remove many more from him.
I think the 5 games is pretty tame. But it probably fits better once you consider the vacated games. What I'm interested to know about is if the vacated games will have a more physical impact on our man Rick.
If I understand correctly the NCAA requires the University to disavow any knowledge of the Championship game, or other vacated games. They got all bent out of shape when UK gave Calipari a commemorative 500 win basketball.
So my question is, will the NCAA require Pitino to remove his tattoo? That is a written acknowledgment of the vacated title. It's kind of like the combination of a commemorative basketball and media guide.... so the NCAA could order him to have it removed.

Why ACC games and not preseason? He will get to coach his young team early and get them prepared for conference play. Or, are conference games more of a penalty?

If the ncaa actually does vacate those, then i think pitino will be vacated also.
