Pitino and Jurich Placed on "Leave"

Just wow if true. Most likely a stall tactic and they'll announce firings later today.

Have to be fired by board or sub committee for Pitino. Jurich may have same language in his contract.

Not a stall tactic, its a legal tactic. They need to be sure that contracts are reviewed, and the firings are done properly. my opinion.

Pitino’s contract states he can only be fired by the Athletic Department and to be fired with cause he must be notified of the cause and have a chance to respond in 10 days. If this does not happen there is a $40 some million buyout.

Jurich must be notified of cause and he has to be given 30 days to rectify the cause or he gets his buyout which is probably $3 million or so.

The university is facing a $48 million deficit next budget year. The university must dot all their i’s and cross all their t’s. No other choice.

Remember the clause in Pitinos contract that he has to have a 10 day notice to be fired for cause.

Contracts are probably terminated by the board, which also approves hires. Formality. I'm sure that when Rick's buyout is $44 M, you do it by the book.

The 10 days will give Pitino enough time to morph into the Crypt Keeper and bury Tom up to his Turtleneck.

yeah it's even worse. they can't go hide anywhere yet. the media, ncaa are going to get a load of jurich and pitino for another week. going to be a long one for the cards.

MJ said on WLAP it could be from his lawyer perspective that Rick could be fired for cause, but might have to wait for the UL board to meet before it could be official for Jurich.

That's crazy. At UK, Capiluto could drop the hammer in an instant if he had to! No board, just done. Now they are going to be in a state of limbo at this critical time of year. What are they gonna do, bring in Clappy?

Pitino on "unpiad leave and his employment status will be evaluated at a later date"

Jurich on "paid leave and his future employment will be reviewed by board at a later date"

Yea, both are gone. Pres/Board knows it. Pitino/Jurich know it. This is just making sure everything is done by the contract to avoid the large buyouts.

Maybe it's a formality. But it seems like a stall tactic. Right now they're placed on a leave, but months from now when they're officially fired, it won't be that big of a deal.

Both are absolutely going to be fired ... basically already are. The key clue to why its absolutely going to happen was Postel talking about getting an interim coach and interim AD. You dont need an interim AD if you thought Jurich had a sliver of hope of coming back to his job... you'd let his underlings take care of it for a few weeks.
