Would have loved to have played in this one. First round match-ups:

Michigan State v. Georgetown
UNC v. Portland
Oklahoma v. Arkansas
Oregon v. UConn
Duke v. Portland State
Butler v. Texas
Florida v. Stanford
Gonzaga v. Ohio State

Some good teams among that bunch.

I think it's two separate brackets, right?

If those are the brackets, I see a UNC vs. MSU and Oklahoma vs. Oregon at the top. MSU vs. Oregon. MSU wins the top bracket.

At the bottom, Duke vs. Butler and Florida vs. Gonzaga. Then Duke vs. Florida. Duke wins the bottom bracket.

Just my guess.

would have never guessed in a million billion trillion quadrillion bajillion years that Duke and UNC would be the two teams that magically would "draw" Portland and Portland St, the two outliers in the tournament. absolutely stunning development, I tell ya!

Duke fans will claim they got hosed again by having to play Portland St. in Portland, just like when they had to play USC in South Carolina in the tourney last year.

They will definitely see themselves as the victim. LOL!

So, everybody but Duke and UNC have to play real teams? [roll]

Playing devils advocate

Duke and UNC play cupcakes but at least they didn't back out

The tournament needs Duke and UNC to advance to at least the 2nd round to keep publicity for Phil Knight's tournament high and folks interested.

Then:

Duke over Butler
Florida over Gonzaga
Arkansas over UNC
MSU over Oregon

Championship:

Florida over Duke
MSU over Arkansas

The good thing about UK not being in this tournament s that we would likely lose one and possibly two potential home games had we played. The bad thing is that we likely could've made the finals of the tournament, if not win it all.

I'll be at all the games in the Rose Garden. Pretty psyched.
Nice....I lived in Eugene when the 2012 team played Portland at the Tose Garden. My wife had never been to a Kentucky game. We walked in and she says, "Are all of these people from Kentucky?" It's at that point she understood.

Would be funny if Portland beat UNC. It's possible. UNC's frontcourt is virtually nonexistent.

Lived in Coos Bay then and was at that game too and was part of that Kentucky crowd your wife was talking about, lol. Was there with 6 of us dressed in UK gear.

Nike trying to take an even bigger hold on college basketball.

Hilarious that they had to let UNC and Duke play gimmie first round games to get them to participate.
it is more about putting the 2 biggest names against the local schools. Same as the Hawaii Classic having host Chaminade always play the top team.

Fun game to watch. Crowd was small, but lots of them were UK fans. I'm glad my fellow Cat fans gave her a little glimpse that I'm not alone :)

In addition to the punishing task of facing Portland State, Duke draws probable celler-dwellar IU in the Big10/ACC challenge. Hits keep coming.

How many starters return for Arkansas? Took UNC to the wire and had some of the worst calls in the tournament in that game.

I would've loved to have gone to this, had UK been involved. Pretty cool tournament idea. Kentucky probably would've gotten a cupcake first round opponent as well, to be fair. Arizona also dropped out of the tournament, along with some other teams if I'm not mistaken.
