Petrino Blocks Grad Transer Wiggins from Miss State

All the other blocks are on the schedule, correct? edit: actually ND and WKU aren't on the schedule either...him being blocked from WKU is truly a head scratcher.

No excuse for some of these blocks...be an adult.

As much as it hurts me to offer any defense for Petrino and Da Ville, this is not at all uncommon and happens all the time. Schools/Coaches often block certain schools for various reasons- in conference, on the schedule, former coaches, etc, etc and while I don't think they should have that right, it is not uncommon. The SEC conference itself actually has a rule if you transfer in conference you must sat out two seasons, which essentially means you lose a year. That in itself blocks kids. It's another reason why people dislike the NCAA organization, all of these restrictions of the student athlete and none on the coaches and staff

Stone went to UL. Joe Crawford never transferred. Had he transferred, it is unlikely that Tubby would have blocked him; however, Izzo might not have taken him, because of his friendship with Tubby.

That said, grad transfers should not be treated like transfers. The coach should have NO say in where they can go. Kid should lawyer up.

And, look to see what happened in Stone's case. Refusal talk that did not last. This does not really seem debatable, nor relevant.

I agree, as I said before sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't but it is hardly new nor does it make Petrino the devil lol

Petrino is not the devil but he knows him well and considers him a good man.

Not sure if it is that low or not, but he sure belongs down there with some pretty low characters. I still think he should be in jail in Arkansas, you or I would be.

What a complete POS. He had no problem with Wiggins following Grantham to Louisville

LOSER

This goes back to another thread on here about grad transfers. My personal opinion is if a kid graduates he shouldn't need permission to transfer to anywhere he wants to go, its a BS rule. WIth that being said, Wiggins has followed Gratham around like a little puppy following it's mamal. Pruitt told him he would never step on the field as a CB for one of his defenses, thus he left to follow Grantham to UofL. I wasn't a fan of Wiggins from the day he committed to us, saw him play a couple times in HS and nothing he did stood out.

With all that said, Mark Richt never bloced anyone from transferring to anywhere, didn't matter if they were on our schedule or not. He allowed JJ Green to transfer to Georgia Tech, our biggest rival that we play every year. UGA has an admission board made up of alumni, professors and students, if a kid signs with us and they don't grant admission he doesn't get in. 2 times we had kids sign LOI with us and that board denied admission, Richt released them from their LOI, helped them find another home and they started against us that fall. Not sure I would have helped them find someone we played that year, but it was the right thing to do. Kirby on the other hand blocked a kid from going to an SEC school,

I don't care for Wiggins or Grantham, but I wouldn't mind WIggins lining up in the secondary this fall, we play them. Run a little hurry up and their defense will still be trying to figure out where they are suppose to be.

I totally agree AND thought that was the case. I thought the only "restriction" was your new school must offer a post-graduate course of study not offered by your old school.

Peace

So did I. I didn't think you could block a grad transfer.

Someone here said that grad program stipulation no longer exists. Not sure if that is a fact.

Why is BP putting a block on WKU and ND?

WK freaking U? His old school? Why is he casting shade toward the Hilltoppers? Are they on UL's schedule next year?

Richt is one of the few good guys in coaching, In Bobby P's case the P could stand for another word.

I can't feel sorry for Wiggins or any player who signed with Petrino. You know what you are getting yourself into. So live with it when things don't turn out.

It's good to discuss this. We compete with them for recruits. Good for the recruits to be reminded.

Wiggins' comments sound like he would like to transfer to Mississippi State if he could. The fact that Petrino is a complete butt wad is not news. But I don't think this example has any significance for us.

Every SEC team should block transfers to UL,as long as he's there.
