I am reading again this year how we are going to have some excellent recruits attending. That gets me and about everyone else excited. But, I was wondering, has anyone ever tracked this result? It seems like we typically know of those who attend the name of a player or two we expect to get. How often, though, is the outcome 100%; 50%, 25%, etc. of all who attended ending at Kentucky, especially if you track perhaps the years Cal has been here? That stat might be interesting to know.

The BBM percentage isn't outstanding but Cal has brought in mostly number one classes year after year so I'll let it slide.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Alright... I did this research very quickly so I'm not sure if It's completely accurate, but...

As far as I can find, we've had 56 different recruits at BBM since Cals been here. 3 of which are current HS underclassmen, and 2 of which (Quickley & Langford) are current HS undecided seniors.

So there's 51 recruits that have made their college choices. Of those 51, 23 of them ended up at UK. So about 45%.

And Quickley will make it 24 fairly soon I'm guessing. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(It should be noted though that of those 23 that ended up at UK, 13 of them were already committed at the time of their Madness visits.)

Then they really shouldn't count.

So 10 for 38 of the players not already committed ended up at UK

Percentages would probably get better if mathew mitchel would quit with his ridiculous dancing

It would be a more compelling event sans women's basketball altogether, but that opinion goes over like a Mentos in a Diet Coke, so we're just gonna have to settle for things starting off a little cringey.

The womens program is basically a distraction.
I miss the old midnight madness days when you got to see brief interviews with the players, followed by shooting and dunks etc, leading up to the first scrimmage.

Thanks for taking the time to figure that out.

Agree, other than the typical one smart-ass comment early on (and why even take the time to make that non-
contributory post?), there is some good objective information. I also agree about the Women's program, the dancing was funny once, maybe even twice but enough already. I get that we have to go through the pretense of recognizing the women's team (and actually women's basketball can be at times entertaining). However, we all know the University of Kentucky's Big Blue Madness is about the men's team. If they held these as separate events the same crowd would be there for the men's event, and not very many for the women. Just not politically correct to eliminate them though. So make the intro's brief, a 5 minute scrimmage and get to the men.

In terms of the stats, it indicates two things to me. One is committed players want to come and see what they will be eventually participating in the future. Two, that just because a non-committed recruit comes to BBN it is only around a 30-35% chance they join the program. Still better than zero and actually another stat that might be of help would be how many that come also go to another program's event as well? But, I am not asking anyone to research that one except Wcc31.

I think we could use more cloggers. That really got Rupp hyped up. I bet you would see Reddish backing out of his Duke pledge, and probably the NCAA requiring Bagley to transfer to UK and be eligible immediately if we could get another 1.5 hours of cloggers right before BBM.

It's so tough to put a real number on the impact because some of the guys we've had there were uncommitted but virtually a lock before they came (Quickley) while we've also had visitors who showed up but everyone knew they were bound for somewhere else (Okafor, etc.)

Now that we have a starting list, it wouldn't take much more leg work to parse out the recruitment of those players a bit more and see if we actually swung anyone or put ourselves over the top. May give that a go this weekend.
