Just in case you missed these postgame comments from North Carolina coach Roy Williams about the academic fraud allegations at North Carolina after his team beat Gonzaga to win the national titleMonday night.

Q. You alluded to it a little bit the last three, four years, what it's been like for you. What has it been like to you? And what does this mean to you because of everything you've had to go through?
COACH WILLIAMS: I wish it got no attention here, because this should be about the kids. I wish it got no attention. But I know it's out there. But the last three or four years have been very hard. I told you, people have questioned my integrity, and that means more to me than anything.

I know that we did nothing wrong. I know that I did nothing wrong. I've been investigated 77 times, it seems like. And everybody came to that conclusion. But there were some mistakes made at my university that I'm not happy about either.

But there's also, it always says for little or no work, and that's not true, or that for classes that weren't classes, and that's not -- they were taught differently. And whether I approve of it or not it makes no difference. But it's been there.

It's been harder to recruit. We've lost about everybody that we tried because the sensationalism of the newspapers. I mean, I had to start defending myself four years ago. And I used to say that I hoped that it was over with before I retired. Now I'm saying I hope it's over with before I die. So I'm not that happy about that part of it.

But your question yesterday whenever it was, there's nothing good about this. Because I didn't understand the question. There's nothing that this has caused guys to stay. I mean, they stayed because they trusted us. They stayed because they loved the University of North Carolina. We didn't get a lot of guys we wanted to get.

But you know what? We played on the last Monday night last year and we got beat because another team made a better play. We played on the last Monday night this year. And to me that's a great deal of credit goes to those kids, because they realized they did nothing wrong. I think it was Dennis that asked the question last night, but the rules are that we were playing. Whenever the decision is made and whatever they do, everybody's gotta live with.

But this team that I had last year and this year's had nothing to do with that. And the things that have been put in the paper have been very harmful and very hurtful. But that's what it is. Let's please, I'm not telling you what questions to ask. I'll answer any dadgum question you want. But please I would like you try to focus on what with these kids have accomplished instead of something that somebody did 24 years ago.

Even if he knew nothing, which I don't believe for a second, it's because he didn't want to know anything. Regardless, his woe is me act is stale. They need to have the hammer dropped, like yesterday.

His assistant that came with him from KU was directly implicated in the infractions. He like Pitino can say they didn't know.......Bull hockey!
It is way past time that these cheats be punished. UK under (sic) Sutton had went through the process including the punishment phase in the time this crap
has been investigated. UK got a TV ban. What supposedly went down at UK wasn't 1/1000th of the infractions that have been proven by their in house investigation.
Which was a very narrow investigation at that. There were other suspicious things that went on with academics down there.

I know we really want them to do something to UNC-Cheat but does anyone actually think they will?
Yes, I do. They have put themselves in a position they can't easily get out of. If they give UNCheat a slap on the wrist, the media will be all over them but worse, I think it will be the beginning of the end of the NCAA.

Do you really think other schools are going to simply roll over and allow the NCAA to play favorites in this atmosphere? I don't. Money is power and the P5 schools have all the power. They can band together at any point.

i bought my fellas each a coker-coler and watched them write them there study papers!! I cant say it enough dagummit....where's my cane? i'm outta here! Sincerely Huckleberry Hound.

Media will be all over them? Seriously? If you mean the Charlotte papers, do you really think they care? If you mean ESPN, you are crazy. They have been carrying water for the cheaters from the jump.

The media is kissing their ass, thats the problem. They are gonna get away with a slap on the wrist, the NCAA likes to remove final 4,s and not vacate titles.

I have come to realize that, yes, the other P5 schools will live with it. The reason is all that TV money. Upsetting the apple cart could
jeopardize the huge flow of money. Better to just deal with it. JMO. It's the only reason there hasn't been an outcry.

Didn't Pitino actually reference what has gone on at unc when he was first interviewed last year after the hooker crap came out about Louisville? He is such a slimy bastard, but I would love it if he made a huge stink about his cards getting hit but nothing happening to unc. Not sure what it would do but there will be some people making noise if this continues to go unpunished.

Maybe they did nothing wrong this year and last, but prior to that you can't deny that some of his althetes weren't involved. Shucks o'golly these kids didn't do anything.. Yes, and my rear end is an ice cream freezer. Fess up Roy, your time's coming.. And soon I hope..

Roy is a liar. Plain and simple. The school had fake classes and gave fake grades for those classes for over 20 years. He knew just like Pitino knew. He didn't care because it kept his players eligible.
I have no more respect for him than I do Pitino. Both are liars.

I would like to have had the follow up question if "what do you mean the classes were 'taught differently'?"

Maybe taught by the sleep with the text book under your head method? Maybe by taking a few notes and line your jock strap with them so they would be closer to what all guys think with?

It will be a slap and probably on the back and saying great job winning the NC. All of the media knows everything and only a few will still bring it up. No one is going to band together for what? If the other schools wanted to complain they would have already.

No, I mean the NYT, LATimes and so on. The NCAA will get bit pretty hard if they let this slide. The tone of the final NOA isn't good for UNCheat. The NCAA could have let things stand with the weak ANOA, but they changed horses and sound pissed. That is the most promising sign.

Most people or papers have forgotten about it, the NCAA could care less or they would have done something years ago. If they cared as much as you think, UNC would not have played in the last 2 championships and won this time. It looks good on the NCAA that a team full of Jr's and Sr's won the NC. They are hoping people will forget and soon won't be able to do anything.

But with those newspapers now considered "fake news" organizations, will the Country or NCAA even care.

I've been saying this for a while now. Sports in general is due for a huge overhaul. From high school to pro. With the amount of money that's tied up in a kids game, it's becoming more evident that a win at all costs mentality has matriculated through all levels. It's really sad. People cheat. It happens and has happened since the inception of play. If somebody wants an edge, they're gonna find a way. However some people tolerate it when their team succeeds. Which creates a terrible message. The UNC and UL scandals are the impending benchmark for a new level of punishment. Will the NCAA send a clear message to those who will try and taint the game, or will they support their cash cows?

Are you f$&@! kidding me??? Buried in the beginning of that was a justification for the AFAM classes. "They were taught differently" No kidding....you didn't have class for the whole semester and then either turned in a term paper a tutor wrote for you or actually wrote a couple pages at a 7th grade writing level and were awarded a "B or A" for college level work. Get that "taught differently" bull crap out of here. That's a joke, the Weinstein report proved it and Roy needs to be challenged on these nonsensical and delusional statements he makes.

I think he's being honest.

When you've been a cheater all of your life you just assume that's how things are.

What, me? I've always been this way...

A promising sign but when? to paraphrase a funny comment I saw from a UNC fan a while back: "when this all started my wife and I welcomed a baby daughter into this world, now she's 7 and in second grade, when does this end."?

LOL. I guess his daughter will be graduated and married with her own kids by the time the NCAA is done with this.
