Sweet! Get a leg up for next season. Doubt he'll get much play this year.

Depth should be second to none. Cal said he wouldn't get caught short-handed again and I believe him.

Even if he just gets 3 months of practice time (& maybe some mopup minutes), that is a big boost for next year.

I know Cal generally doesn't redshirt players, but I wonder if this could be an exception.

Doesn't say whether he would be playing. My guess is he will practice and only be used if we have an injury, now that we have Humphries. If we don't need him at all, then redshirting is definitely a possibility.

i think he moves really well and has a huge body. i think he will get some run during conference play with how physical it is inside.

3.5 years will be plenty for him and enough time for the scouts to determine his future pro prospects. Bring him on.

Like the others said, 3.5 years would be plenty of time to determine his pro stock. Use him if a situation calls for for.

Also what, two months ago we were wondering who the heck would back up Skal at C... Now we have a seven footer Australian and 6'10'' bruising Kiwi. Cal is amazing.

Isn't there a bit of a rivalry between Aussies and Kiwis though? Something to look out for...

Good news, I'm looking forward to the young wood choppers arrival.

It will be a huge boost for him and for the team next season.

Having at least six returning players (Hawkins, Willis, Mulder, Matthews, Humphries, and Wynyard) will speed the learning process along for the team. That will be valuable leadership to merge with the talented Freshmen.

Yep add those 6 to SKJ , Fultz , Monk , Fox , Bridges and either Ayton or another big man and that is your 12 rides ( plus the one Floreal uses)

Looks like we'll have plenty of big bodies to throw up against KU. Skal, Poy, Lee, Humphries, Wynyard.

Smash, I don't think he'll do that again, but it's definitely starting to look like he has the personnel to do it. Then again, maybe he will share the mins around and not label it "platooning". We have a lot of depth, again.

Leaving home at the start of summer to come to Lexington at the beginning of winter. Guess he really wants to be here! Now all the pieces are in place except for one. I anxiously await the official word that Skal has been decalared eligible.

There's nothing to be declared...he is eligible.

Right, there will never be an official declaration of eligibility. He'll just be on the team, and practicing, and playing. The only way you'll ever hear anything official is if he's declared ineligible, or being held out of practice/games for investigation. There's exactly zero indication anything like that is going on.

Poy got hurt and he was red-shirted due to that, and honestly no one believes he will use that to come back for a 5th year anyways.

I think his point was that you never know for sure what a guys trajectory will end up being. We never thought we'd see a 4th year/Senior Poythress 3 years ago.

Some fans may not want to think about it yet.. but that returning core, along with Ulis as a possibility, plus the usual 3-4 top25 recruits, and we could be looking at a team similar to 2014/2015. Not quite as much talent down the bench, but players who will be happy in reserve roles. I wouldn't suggest platooning again, but we'd have the legs to run teams into the ground.

Remember last year between December and February (at our best), after every game the opposing teams top player always commented on not being able to keep up, and how relentless Kentucky was. We were winning a lot of games simply by running other teams out of the gym. We could conceivably do the same thing in 2016/17, just more minutes for the first squad, and less for the 2nd. Say a 30/10 split. Could be filthy.

We needed to beef up inside: Humphries and Wynyard do just that.
We have no weakness now.
If we are not #1 preseason something is rotten in Denmark.
