I think the professionals (coaches/players) should vote for the starters. The fans can pick the rest. Didn't Yao Ming get in as a starter before because the Chinese stuffed the ballot box (voted like crazy online)? The fans would still get the top voted players in the game, but just not as the starters.

Fans should get to pick last five guys to make the roster. Coaches should get to pick the first 7 for each roster, including the starters. The fact that someone like Kobe (or Carmelo) can start in this thing discredits these All-Star games.
