Is it me or does Finebaum's arguments at least have some legitimacy to it?
First let's say this team doesn't make a final four. I think Murray, Skal and Briscoe fall in the 1st round. Let's say a next year Cal doesn't win a title. Fox, Monk, Gabriel, Bam all are 1st rounders. Hypothetically let's say Cal moves on...
1) While at UK Cal will have had 22 first round draft picks. Three, maybe 4 overall #1 draft picks and 1 title to show. Would that not be considered underachievement? 4 coaches/teams in the past 10 years have won 2 titles in 6 years with far less talent. I get it the final fours are fine and dandy...but if all he has is 1 title that's an underachievement. Now what he has done via the NBA guys will effect us long after he is gone... but all that talent with 1 title would be a tad bit of a waste.
2) What has Stoops done to warrant this much of a leash? A dumb contract extension put us in a bad situation should he not produce results next year. He has folded like a tent twice. I hope Gran is the answer but after last year I learned not to put blind stock in 1st year hires.
I'm just saying Paul had legit points IMO.
