Patrick Towles "Eat Crow" thread

Patrick Towles had a good game and we all hope he continues to improve. He has great athleticism and arm talent, but his vision and decision making is still lacking on a consistent basis. I give alot of credit to the OC for calling a game that allowed the pocket to move and actually going down the middle of the field. I sure hope PT can continue to play consistently like he did last week. I'm willing to eat whatever if that's the case. But before we start calling him the next Tim Couch he has to be consistent. I think this O looking like it is finding an identity will help.

Well, a better one would go ask everyone to go get prescriptions for knee jerks. There seemed to be a huge outbreak after the florida game...and I'm sure they'll resurface

By golly, it just shows that if you have good second halves and win football games, the fans will support you. But hey, now don''t have an incompletion! Or else, we'll burn you on social media.

Its not about eating crow for me. PAT is fine back there i just didnt think he was doing enough to keep Barker from playing at all...having said that Towles played well against Mizzou

Careful on that knee jerk reaction.

Im glad he had a good game. But im still FAR from being sold. 1 good game against 8 or 9 stinkers in a row isn't enough to win me over.

Teams are going to start loading the box to stop the run and force Towles to win games for us. Im not confident he'll be able to do that.

I'm all about Patrick Towles playing well but before the Mizzou game he hadn't played well consistently and people saying otherwise just don't have much evidence to support their position. So far this year including the Mizzou game Patrick ranks:

55th ---passing yards
82nd---Passing efficiency
87th---passing TD's
54th---yards per completion
95th ---points responsible for
79th---total offense

No need to beat up on the guy after the Mizzou game, he played well in that game, but acting like he played well the rest of the season this year or last year is simply pretentious.

You forgot the most important stat:

SEC wins-2

I don't think it's knee jerk when a starting QB looks like garbage for 3 games in a row. Not to mention the 2nd half of our schedule last season.

Two can play that game 29 game losing streak. That's what happens when you confuse individual and team stats.

Hard.to argue with that logic. i think you wilk change your tune after towles leads us to 5 or more SEC wins. A lotta of towles skills will not show up in stats. His passing yards have no fluff to them and doesnt account for all the tough yards he rushes for to win games.

If you understood what was going on on the field last year, you would understand his issues. UK was in no way a good team last yr..5 wins was a really good season for them and a first yr starting QB

No I won't change my tune. If Towles plays well I'll be right there with everybody that is giving him credit. If Towles plays bad I will be there saying it isn't the first time he has played bad. Just because I'm realistic about Towles performances doesn't mean I am against him. It doesn't take a mental giant to understand that.

Against Florida, he played one of the worst games in recent UK history (at QB) and against Mizzou, he played one of the best games in recent UK history.

In the Florida game, he stunk, the OLine stunk and the receivers dropped balls.

This board is very bi-polar. One week everyone is ready to jump off the bridge, the next week everyone is preparing themselves for a national championship run. Things are usually never as good or as bad as people think, Patrick Towles proved that and the coaching staff proved it.

Patrick Towles plays his worst game against arguably the best defense in the SEC and people lost their minds. I thought his performance was good, but Mizzou's offensive performance was terrible. I really thought the playcalling exposed Mizzou's weaknesses this season which are plenty. I now tend to think UK is staring at an 8-4 season, when was the last time that happened?

I hope he does great. You have to string a bunch of good games in a roll to keep fans off your back. I was at the Missouri game and thought he looked pretty good but not great. I still would like to see what Barker can do and play some so just in case we need him, so he doesn't come in with a deer in the headlights look.
