Over ..Under ?

Over. I am optimistic that the bats do finally come around. We can't hit this poorly all year. Presumably.

This weekended is only a precursor to SEC.

Yep, but we have a month and 15 more games before we ever face another SEC quality pitcher. That being the case, there is plenty of time for us to get the bats right and start seeing the ball better than we are this weekend.

Daniels in to pitch. Promptly gives up a solo home run. 9-2. He then gets 3 strikeouts.

Over. I'm generally pessimistic about our baseball program at the moment, but even bad teams sneak out a few wins. Hell, last year we beat Georgia at home and they were top 10 at the time. I'm guessing 7-8 SEC wins, most of them coming at home. Also, Mizzou and South Carolina aren't world beaters, and neither is Alabama from the west. Those are our best chances to actually win a series.

Kentucky always wins a series they have no business winning. I think somewhere between 8-10 wins in conference play. But I hope I’m wrong and we go 30-0.

Hard to see 5 more wins period at this point. And if so have to think they will all come from non conference games. Because this team in the matter of two seasons is light years behind any other SEC team.

Hard to believe this program has gone in the absolute toilet this fast.

Honestly, we may be even worse than we were last year, at least we had one really good starting pitcher so we knew we had a chance whenever Thompson pitched.
As good as ZT was even that was shaky unless he pitched a 1 run game. We are most definitely worse than last year .

Uninspired play, unsound play, subpar talent and questionable coaching sums it up. This program is in a bad place. Really stunning how bad our pitching is.

Never fear it is motivational Monday! lol

We missed the tourney with all of those draft picks 2 years ago. That was probably enough to make a change.
I'm ready for a change, but to be fair l think the committee screwed us that year. We should have gotten in. We probably wouldn't have done anything, but we still should have gotten in the way they did it.

As much as I like Mingione as a person, we can't go on like this. If there isn't some significant improvement soon, then MB will have to make a change.

Sadly, I imagine that Mingione will be given another pass this year. They will chalk it up to him having bad luck with Curtis and Hill getting injured.

Don't think so CB3...if we are 5< wins in SEC play, then that dog won't hunt.

Might not, but I think that will be the reason given. That it was just so difficult for him to work with guys like Hill, Curtis, and Bryan out and that he did as good of a job as possible given the situation and that sort of stuff.

I like Barnhart, but I also think Barnhart likes to save money where he can, and waiting another year, maybe two, saves him a lot of money on not having to do buyouts, especially with the new hires, whom I assume have buyouts as well.

The only way Coach is back with less than 7 SEC wins will be in part to the assistant coaches hired this season. Again to me Roszel as pitching coach is a strange and interesting hire......I keep wondering if some behind closed door deal has been made that (if the SEC goes as badly as I think it will now, winless through the first 5 SEC weekends) that Roszel will be given the reigns with the idea it’s his team going forward. That’s the kind of money saving move I see Barnhart making.

I agree, the Coggin move makes some sense. He was already in the area and not working in college baseball, so to bring him on knowing that Mingione might be a dead man walking makes some sense.

However, Roszel had a decent thing going in East Carolina and there should be no real reason that he should have been willing to jump onto a ship that was taking on water.

Something amazing is that East Carolina lost Roszel to UK and they replaced him with JASON DIETRICH, who was the 2016 pitching coach of the year when he was at Cal State Fullerton, and before he went to Oregon from 17-19. Quite a hire for a smaller market type school like ECU.
