the NCAA said in 2011 when we were thrown in as a four seed against osu and uwv that they go for the "best matchup" because that's what the "fans" want. they mean potential new fans of course. because no fans in our region are happy. our region has been stacked solid since cal's been here. in one way this means we are easily the biggest draw/story according to the NCAA, and another means we will have to play 3 ranked teams to win our region. no problem. except when we have 32 wins. no way other number ones don't get better treatment. no problem yum center or somewhere in the mid south we'll win. this is the way it has looked for the last five years...

one game UK vs kentucky school (if possible ivy league for wall street journal story)

one game UK vs most talented team that played to competition (underachieved 2-3 nba players)

one game UK vs second best team in our region (1-2 nba players well coached)

one game UK vs top fifteen-to-twenty team that is on fire (2-3 nba players)

this is our typical run. i cite three years in this and you could argue last year as well. that would make all four tournaments NOT including our '13 snub, oh yeah that makes five... uh all five years that cal has coached we've seen the committee do what they said they would do. so storylines prevail. and cal is 3/4 in regional finals, so we should be there. but is it fair? i contest my bb brethren if we run the table we will see this same pattern unfold anyway. i left off the typical send us to another site bit because THAT goes back decades to other coaches as well. i doubt they would this year as we're far and away a stronger team. and yes we shall win them all.

If done correctly, it should be the top seed versus the approximate 16 rated team as the four seed, the second seed should be number 8, third seed number 12. Never done that way of course.

The S Curve was done away with for years now.

The S Curve change also known as "The Great Duke Cake Walk Modification".

If the NCAA had their way, our bracket would look like this:

1 Kentucky
16 VCU

8 Notre Dame
9 Iowa State

5 Duke
12 Utah

4 Villanova
13 Maryland

6 Wisconsin
11 Kansas

3 Gonzaga
14 Wichita State

7 Arizona
10 Louisville

2 Virginia
15 UNC
