I see no downside to him coming in mid-year. If anyone happens to be worried that he'd take their minutes, they'll have the first half of the season to show why they should stay on the court.

Exactly right, it's a win win situation.

If he can come in and give us 10 or so minutes per game behind Labissiere, Poythress, and Lee then we will be set inside.

Just need to get Murray and our perimeter is set as well.

I firmly believe Cal has decided the Kiwi Krusher can provide a useful 8-10 minutes a game in 2015-16. No way he wouldn't be signing an Eloy Vargas-type insurance policy player if he didn't think so. But if Wynyard is capable, it make so much more sense to get him in the system and develop him under real conditions.

If Wynyard can give us 8-10 minutes after Christmas, then our big rotation is outstanding.

And that extra experience and practice time will really pay off in 2016-17. An experienced big man will pay dividends that season. Not a lot of elite bigs in the '16 class. Having a guy that already has D-1 experience should really help.
