No matter how this year ends up our gaurds have been warriors. These guys have been ran into the ground shouldering all of the offensive load.
Unfortunately we are now seeing the effects of it. Ulis is wore down, Murray and Briscoe probably are as well. We heard the comments from Willis about being wore down after going from playing a few minutes a game to 30.
It just is upsetting cause these gaurds and Willis deserve so much better.
Lee has not improved one bit in 3 years, has zero post skills.
Alex has not improved in 4 years. Still can't dribble, can't get himself motivated to play.
Then there is Skal. If I were Cal I would not play him another minute this year. He does not even attempt to hustle or rebound. And it is a slap in the face to the guys that are playing their balls off.
In the end we can make a run with the right draw, but I can't see us winning more than 4 games in a row against quality competition in the tournament. I realize the bigs not that offensively skilled, but there is no damn reason they cannot grab rebounds at 6'11,6'11, and 6'8

I don't think we can exactly say that we're seeing the effects of it though. Both scored a lot of points last night (and Ulis had a lot of assists/a double-double).

I keep seeing people here saying "man, Tyler Ulis is tired, I dunno how much longer he can go on", but it looked like he wasn't even sweating in overtime, and he had a double-double. Maybe I'm missing something, I dunno.

I think we are seeing the effects of 4 guys having to carry the weight of 7. Ulis playing almost 40 a game is not a good thing, Willis has said himself he is tired, Briscoe has had problems with cramps, and how long before Murray gets tired or hurt. Ulis mentally seemed drained last night. And that is no knock on him because he has to quarterback the team for 40 minutes every night.
Bottom line is that we are almost 3/4 of the way thru the season and and I am tired of watching Lee and Skal and Poy stand around and watch the other guys. Hump put more effort into one game last night than those 3 have all year combined.
At this point in the season it boils down to who wants to be great and I see it in our gaurds, Willis, and now Hump.

I agree with 144catfan, ulis showed mental fatigue more so than physical

do you think tyler showed signs of mental fatigue last night down the stretch?

I'm not gonna comment on the production of our bigs this year. I can't come to terms with blasting kids on a message board. But they have been pretty sorry as a unit.

Alex 50% of the time when he plays is the same way unless the guy guarding him is 6'3. He should average at least 12 & 8. But he has been a enigma since he arrived on campus.
