Let's look at our experience since every keeps talking about us having many seniors in our rotation on defense. I am going to list the seniors and then their backups. I will also list the offers from other schools and star rank.
Srs-
F. Huguenin- 2* Offers from South Carolina State, N.C. A&T, N.C, Central, and Kentucky (Typical Joker)
M. Lewis- NR JC Transfer Offers from UK, Miami, and Washington (Only here for 2 years, been very solid)
C. Johnson- 4* JC Transfer Offers from UK, Miami, Ariz. St., N.C State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, UT (Here 2 Years)
Jabari Johnson- 3* (5.5) Offers from UK, ECU, Georgia St., UL, Troy, Western Carolina (Joker Recruit)
Josh Forrest- 3* (5.6) Offers from UK, UCF as a TIGHT END/WR now playing LB (Joker Recruit)

So of our 9 Seniors we have 4 JC transfers that have only been here for 2 years and one of those 4 was NR. Only 2 of the 9 were above a 5.5 3* and both were JC transfers that have been here a short time and on of those was only a 5.6. Only 3 of the nine had what you would consider "bigger" offers. Only 4 of the 9 are Stoops recruits.
Now lets look at their back-ups with offers, stars, and year:

Alvonte Bell- 3* 5.6 JC Transfer Good offers out of HS, but only UK out of JC (Hasn't been here a year yet)

Reggie Meant- 2* (5.3) Sophomore Offers from UK, Ball St, Bowling Green, UCONN, FIU, Iowa St. Kansas St. Marshall, MTSU, Ohio, UCF, W. Michigan

As we can tell about these HS recruits that Stoops has brought in as opposed to the seniors, these guys have much more projected talent. The missing ingredient with these guys are experience and development.
What is not included in this post is the other positions that do not have a Sr. in the 2 deep. Those include:
SLB- starter is Hatcher (Jr) and his back up is a true freshmen in Josh Allen
Nickel- starter is Blake McClain (Jr) and his back-up is also true sophomore Kendal Randolph
CB- starter is Chris Westry (TRUE FRESHMAN) and his back-up is JD Harmon that is a JR.
S- starter is Marcus McWilson (Jr) and his back-up is Mike Edwards a RS Freshmen
So, while we have 9 seniors, 8 now that Melvin Lewis is out, 4 were JUCO guys in their second year here and the rest had very few Power 5 offers amongst them. The rest of our defense in the two deep is VERY young, with some starters being true freshmen or RS freshmen.
It takes time guys. We can't snap our fingers and make it happen. It takes time. Something Stoops has not had yet. Realistically, he has only had 2 years or less to develop the much improved talent that he has brought in.
