Looks very impressive imo. I realize IU doesn't play defense but Duke looked good last night and we toyed with them.

You guys played great D against us. I think UK is clearly one of the best, and easily the most talented, of the basketball teams around this year.

That said... that was a terrible, terrible game by almost every Duke player who we expect to do well, and I don't think that was 100 percent because of UK. If the teams played each other again, I would not expect that outcome.

It was nice hearing DV repeatedly touting UK's defense in shutting Allen down. An IU friend said Allen just had an off night against us and our D had nothing to do with it. Then DV says it over and over. My friend will have little to say next time I see him.

IU and friend? Something wrong there. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

No doubt Duke played a lot better last night, I would hope we could contain Allen again. Ingram looked lost in Chicago but played a great game last night, I have a friend who lives in Kinston where he played his HS ball and she had told me how good he was but up until last night I hadn't seen it. Of course playing at home and K controlling the refs didn't help Indiana any.. they haven't won all those games in a row by sheer coincidence.

Ohh so you guys played your worst game and we played our best game. right right.

You act like we played our best basketball....Trust me, by season end, Plumlee won't be getting all those rebound.

Well, you didn't expect it the first time. UK shut you guys down. Period. It wasn't just a squeak by win, UK won by double digits. UK has played mid majors that played a better game against them.

I'd tend to agree. Had UK not shot themselves in the foot so very many times it would have been nearer the 25 to 30 points it should have been. UK should get those kinks worked out in the next month or two.

Duke could barely get the ball up the court because of Kentucky's pressure...Murray also lit duke up in every category, they just could not handle our back court...Matt Jones and amile Jefferson was the only duke players that impressed me any..

I thought UK had more mistakes than positives in that Duke game. The turnovers and missed free throws alone were bad enough but our guys had no offensive flow and that defense isn't even close to what it will be.
Duke didn't play its best but UK didn't either.

I hope Duke fans don't think they are going to score at will in every game like they did last night because that was some terrible defense they were playing against.

Anyone who said that UK's D had nothing to do with Allen having a rough night is an idiot.

I'm a lil surprised you would admit this. You guys have a few players that would probably play better if we met again, but i don't feel like Allen would be one of those guys. It's obvious that our guards are just on another level than that kid. He might hit a few open 3s on Kentucky if we leave him open. If we stay on him and make him take only contested shots, i like our odds of shutting him down again. You are entitled to your opinion, but if we play again, i like our odds of winning that game everytime we play. When you don't have the guards to stop our backcourt from driving the ball inside, you have lil to no shot at beating Kentucky. Unless Thorton really comes on in the next few months, i just don't see that type of guard on your current Duke roster.

At the risk of misinterpreting you due to oversensitivity to backhanded remarks from rival posters in the past...

How many blue chippers do the other HOF coaches need to have at their disposal before rival fans stop saying stuff like "pretty good, really talented" about UK as if Cal's results aren't quite where they should be? With his winning records against self and Roy and his split series with K, all of whom have burger boys off the bench every year, can we just cut out the little qualifiers? If you don't think Cal is a top formidable x and o mind that k takes deadly serious regardless of relative roster strength, your brain might be falling out of your head.

Now, once again, I don't actually believe that you meant to say any of that, but I came to aggressively preempt trolling attempts and chew bubble gum. And I'm all out of bubble gum.

Duke was impressive last night,I didn't think they were that good, but on the other hand I didn't think IU was that bad.If they (IU) is really that bad they will be lucky to be .500 in a very average Big 10.

Oh, DEFINITELY reading too much into it. I don't think there is another team in the nation with more natural talent than Kentucky, and I don't think there are many teams as good as Kentucky. When I said "I think UK is clearly one of the best, and easily the most talented, of the basketball teams around this year" it was meant exactly as it sounds:)

And Wildmoon, at no point did I say Kentucky played their best game and Duke played their worst; that is a totally invented narrative on your part. As I said before the game, both teams, especially that early in the season, have a LOT of room for growth. But I think Kentucky played much closer to their actual potential than Duke did in the matchup, and I would expect Duke to give UK a much better game if they met again.

BTW... love that movie. Maybe my favorite "tough guy" quote of all time:)

It would work for me because I think it would be a similar result! However, Duke is due for another early exit from the tourney and I think this team is built for that.
