There’s another thread where many of us old timers are celebrating having lived to see winning Kentucky football.

I love going to games and then rewatching them on YouTube.

Multiple times last season, regional and national commentators during games remarked about our crowd noise.

My favorite was when the dude announcing the Mizzou game bluntly asked Matt Stinchcomb whether Kroger Field was the loudest venue in the SEC. Either Stinchcomb decided to stay quiet for fear of offending his hometown Georgia fans, or he did not hear the question, as he did not respond.

I take a water bottle with 10 or so dimes in it to almost all home games. It makes a terribly obnoxious noise, when shaken.

There were multiple times last season I could not hear the noise of my bottle, a mere 20 inches from my ear, because of the noise you folks were making!

I thought the UF and LSU games were two of the most amazing crowds I've ever seen at CWS.

The Tennessee game, however, was awful. The crowd was dead that night and I have no idea why. It's a huge rival and a huge game, but the place was totally flat that night.

I'll second this! Those LSU and Florida environments are the best i have ever been in personally

I was there, the air was taken out of the stadium early by UT seemingly scoring at will even if we were managing to keep pace offensively.

Agree about FL and LSU crowd noise. It was unbelievable! The SEC opener vs Mizzou was very strong too. There was a lot on the line that game and most everyone knew it.

The crowd was ready to be just as good for the UT game, but I concur the air came out of that balloon quick with UT scoring at will early. The crowd was actually great as we tried to climb back into it the 2nd half.

Kroger's design has a noise advantage over most stadiums in that the seats are just about the closest to the field. Notice how little room there is for mobile sideline cameras. Places that are bigger often have hedges and/or walk areas between the benches & the first rows of seats. Net, that added space doesn't hold noise in as well.

Love it.
Now that water bottle rattle thing could be our “cowbell” moment/ opportunity.
Let’s get KSR, Lexington Water Company or UK to give out promo water bottles prior to a game and see if it catches on!

Soundwise does it have to be Dimes?

I was there for the Tennessee game, and the place was flat because Tennessee hit us for 2 straight 75 yard bombs to start the game, then proceeded to move the ball effortlessly on us all night. It felt energetic to start the game, and the energy just got sucked out. We could pretty much only stop them if we got a turnover.

After having given up 300 yards already, Vito Tisdale decides to dance in the backfield after miraculously making a tackle for loss while Tennessee is lining up for another 40+ yard strike against him of course. We should have rushed the field and danced with him when he made that tackle, simply incredible we stopped them on one down.

I'll be 72 in October and I'll proudly say I'm as rambunctious and loud as I was when I was 30...GOCATS!!

Pennies barely fit and nickels do not fit through the narrow top of a water bottle.

Dimes are easiest in, easiest out!

I never heard it mentioned during the last project, but sitting half way up the Nicholasville side, I realized it sounded louder than before 15 rows at the top were removed, and the boxes installed.

It is louder, and by design: the top of the “box complex” is at least 10 feet further forward than the base, at least 40 feet taller, leaning toward the field, with a smooth lateral curvature, all perfectly directing sound to the field.

I sit on the 32 yard line, about 18 rows up. I’m seriously thinking about earplugs this season.

Don’t think I could coach. I would lose my freaking mind on that BS. Only time to celebrate is on a 4th down stop, get one warning a game, 2nd time your out for the game, regardless who you are. Tackle and line up for the next play, while you are dancing the other team is still playing to beat your ass, it’s all about discipline!!!!

Was in the crowd for LSU last year (and others) and it was the best crowd I’ve ever seen at Commonwealth/Kroger. It was absolutely rocking that night. Can’t wait to get back

Disagree. i never thought the crowd was great against UT. Against UF and LSU, it was great from beginning to end.

I bang my wedding ring on my seatback and that creates a pretty loud racket. I get some strange looks sometimes, but you've got to do what you've got to do to help the team.

I do wonder if the crowd noise can actually be a hindrance against a scheme like Tennessee's where you have to get your defense organized in such a hurry.

Would like to smuggle in some drum sticks to bang on the bleachers. Anything, especially an empty cup, is very loud when banged on a bleacher. Remember this on third downs.

The loudest game I ever heard was the UF game last year. When Wallace returned the td, the place was literally rocking.

My ears are a decibel meter instrument. It’s a thing of art, like how I read greens when I’m putting. Just a talent of mine. Technically the loudest CWS has been was the 2007 UofL game during the Stevie Johnson moment. But we’re all splitting hairs.

It could have been that very first play of the game. One big play for a touchdown tends to shut you up 😂

OK but it's a 3 point game at half and a one possession game most of the night. THe pregame was night and day quiet in comparison to LSU and UF games.

I've gathered one important thing from this thread....if you go to a home game and we have a bad start, don't give up as a crowd. Team needs us, could've made the difference in a tight game. Never give up!!!

""Oh we got down and gave up"" sad that's said multiple, multiple times in this thread. That's old UK fan thinking right there y'all, no need to be scarred anymore.

The real reason nobody is addressing is that we had just lost the East to Georgia (even if it was expected it takes some hope out of the equation) and then we got smacked by Mississippi State in a very disappointing game. The 2 game slide and ugly MSU game created that nervous energy and let a little air out of back door playoff hopes etc

No offense, but the LSU Nati'l Champions game was the best ever imo followed by Stevie Got Loose.

When Stevie caught that ball I think I jumped down like 3 rows of bleachers just out of excitement. Luckily by the time I landed everyone else was on there way down to the field so I didn't hit anyone.

Against LSU damn near broke my leg rushing the field. WOke up the next morning and my right leg was so stiff I could barely move. I think the "We Believe" chant may have been the loudest I've heard there.

OK, I get that. But, we are not alabama, we are UK. We still had a very good season going and a chance to win 10-11 games (we won 10 and it would have been a NY6 bowl if we had beaten UT). These are very rare times around here, there was no reason for the crowd to be that flat against a hated rival.

ive got tickets to the UT game at Knoxville this year. prayers requested.
Be prepared for the most uncomfortable game experience of your life. Aside from the humans and the old-vomit orange everywhere, you will have to spend the game with your knees and shoulders turned at about 45 degrees. That is because the amount of space alotted for each "seat" is comical. I assume they did this so they could try to compete with other schools in stadium capacity, but it results in a very uncomfortable experience.

Man, the Florida crowd last year was insanity. There maybe have been louder single moments, but there is NO CROWD in UK history that was as loud as that Florida game from beginning to end. The crowd gave everything it had, all game long. And it kind of came out of nowhere too. I mean, it was obviously a huge game we were excited for but once kickoff came it was like...damn. I specifically remember that there was a helicopter flying extremely low in circles around the stadium during the whole pregame hype stuff and up to kickoff. For some reason, that helicopter made it feel so big and intense. I hope they do that again.

After the Mizzou, UF, LSU, and tenn games I feel like I needed a bye week. Exhausting but will remember that stretch of games forever.

Hung out in the stadium on the first row until they kicked me out after the LSU game, just to take it all in. Got to see Tim Couch meet Levis, talked to Coen about a wheel route to Mcclain, talked to Sumrall. Awesome times.

I felt like we had turned a corner as a fanbase last year as far as stadium atmosphere. It's about a culture and expectation of being that loud at games. We desperately need new audio in the stadium though.

Looking forward to the SC/MSU/UGA/UL games. Be loud, yall.

People hate on Knoxville (b/c it's UT), but I actually think UT experience is the best road trip. The pageantry on gamedays there is amazing. Unfortunattely, I"ve never seen a UK win there (sadly, I was not there in 2020), but it's a dream of mine to walk out of there as a winner in blue.

Knoxville is in a beautiful part of the country. But, to attend a game there is a miserable experience. I hope you get to see them win a bunch!

I am 68 years old, have attended UK games since I was 9 years old and have had Season Tickets since 1980 and I have never attended a UK home game as loud and electric as last years Florida game. From the start to the finish the fans were on their feet making noise that just Rocked the Stadium. Once Florida had 1 or 2 false starts due to the noise it just fed the crowd more. Can't remember the exact number of false starts that the Gators had that night but man it was a Gloriest Night.

I believe that they had 8. Amazing, the crowd really did have a say in UK winning that game.
