Farrington Huegenin became the first former UK player waived this afternoon.
Had been listed as #3 OLB. Was free agent signed after being released by Pittsburgh last year.
One of the former players I seldom remember until I Google UK NFL players.

Updates to follow....

Lol.....just following the Turk.

Two phrases were attached to Bennie Snell after the Steelers last game:
"Two yard Bennie"
"Ineffective"
The first was by some fans and a media type having a chuckle...kinda cute in.a hurtful way.
The last was by Head Coach Mike Tomlin.....and that's plain chilling.

Saw a mention that by Sat eve a thousand current NFL players will have been cut. Amazing.

Not to steal @billoliver40 ‘s thunder, because he’s doing an awesome job keeping up us to date on the roster status of former UK players, but I found the following link on NFL.com:
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...s-tracker-nfl-teams-finalize-53player-rosters

I may have missed it but I didn’t see any other UK players cut - yet.

I believe all teams have to be at 53 by 4pm today. Later tonight and tomorrow will be the flurry of activity to sign practice squad players.

Benny has heart and a great determination to win. He could have benefited from another year in college. As i said yesterday, a lot of his success was because he was running behind Kentucky's OL. Makes me believe Rose will look good behind Kentucky's OL.

Thanks guys. Today is the toughest day in pro football. ..for everybody. Garett Dickerson who was ahead of Conrad on the depth chart was reported as released...he got injured just before the last game. It's a hard sport especially for UDFA and guys trying to play up from the PS.

Didn’t Benny sign a multi-year deal? If so, I don’t think he has anything to worry about.
Nothing is guaranteed outside of the signing bonus and his paycheck as long as remains on the roster- maybe the first year but probably not if he gets cut. Yet, that bonus alone is enough to basically set him up for the next 10 years of life.

A story in the Denver Post pointed out that when the dust settles roughly 40% of the guys who started camp will be gone. Imagine you work for a company and 40% of your coworkers lose their jobs over a few weeks. It’s obviously tough for the guys who get cut, but for those who remain as well. A lot of friendships are made, and then you watch your new buddy’s lose their job. The NFL is a tough world.

Unless the Steelers pick up a free agent, I think Benny is safe. He is a fantastic special teams player, he has soft hands and catches everything and he is a capable blocker in pass protection. He just needs work on speed and conditiong. Steelers did the same thing with Bell, Conner and Samuels.

Reports coming in that the Cowboys will put Chris Westry on IR. Which means he is on the team for now but not allowed to practice or play. Hamstring. He will get his contract for now but not count against the 53..
Players can be removed from IR and waived at a later date.

Snell made it. Apparently it was a closer call than it was expected to be, and I was a bit worried. He's still not totally out of the woods because if the Steelers like another team's cut, and take that guy, someone else on the roster has to go.

How do you know it was close?

Tomlin has been ineffective as a coach lately. So I guess he would know

Not a surprise, but Lonnie Johnson and Mike Edwards make Texans and Tampa Bay.
Yup. Kids that were drafted are with their teams plus Westry.
Dunno how long Westry and Big George get the slot (they can be negotiated out and cut)
Only disappointed in one. Maybe he will catch on somewhere or get a practice squad shot.

If half what I've read is anywhere near accurate, Baity and Conrad should end up on a practice squad. Then again there's about 1200 guys looking at those slots.
