OT: Kentucky Baseball

I thoroughly enjoy listening to the radio broadcasts of the games. GO CATS!!

My friend works for trackman, I helped him set up the system preseason at the Cliff by throwing pitches off the mound so he could calibrate it. The commentators were just talking about Kentuckys use of trackman and how its helped. Just wanted to say you're welcome BBN

That Grand Slam was nice!

Not much of a baseball fan.. Mets because I secretly hate myself.. But this Kentucky squad might get me into the sport.

Kentucky is about the blow the doors off this game. Another run.

Told you boys the Bat cats are some bad boys. You could seeing in their confidence level mid year. They have talent and that talent started realizing how good they were themselves and now they are beaten some big name teams like they are Murray State

I don't watch college baseball and don't understand the format and such. Is there a real chance for this team to make a run for the title?

If we don't get a national seed do we play in Louisville's regional again? The last time we played them there it was intense. Almost Brawl City.

If they beat Florida tomorrow, they win the division. And depending on what LSU does at Mississippi State, the Cats will be playing for the SEC Conference title. They've only won the SEC once in their history, back in 2006.

They sure played well last night. I was really pleased we did not have to use Salow last night. We may need him tonight or tomorrow to finish this series off. GO CATS!!

They have as good a hitting line up as anyone in the country. From top to bottom and off the bench, no team compares. They are going to score runs. Almost to a fault. I bet the third base coach has gotten more kids out at home than any other team out there. But there mind set is to run and score take the chance. It's going to come down to pitching. And if the middle guys can bail out a bad start.

This is a really good team!

Smart money is on the Cats to split the next 2 at UF and win the East (maybe the SEC depending on what LSU does). We are in good position to host a Super Regional. With the balance in the offense and our 6,7,8,9 guys being legit threats; we have as good of a shot at the CWS as anyone.

I've also seen the 3d base coach hold the runner several times when it appears they could have easily scored.

Basically a lock that UK will host a regional. Starting to look very good for top 8 also. Which means Kentucky would be the host of region and super regional before College World Series.

It's been a really exciting season. I typically go to a handful of games every year but I've been to most of their home games this season. One of, if not the best, offensive teams in the country. They proved last night too that they can hit on the road as well as at home. The pitching is really solid as well although not on the same level as our hitting. This team def has a chance to make some noise in the postseason.

Folks were bracing for a real down year having lost some talent and changed coaching staffs. Whats happening with UK baseball is awesome.

Things have been trending in the right direction for a while. Henderson had played a key role in the rise as he was/is a really solid coach, but I think he took the program as far as he could and started to stall out. Kudo's to both he and Mitch for realizing it was time for both parties to start anew.

This new coach is an absolute diamond in the rough find, and is on the way to perhaps being the best hire of the MB era. He's brought a real new age energy and aggression to the program. I think conventional wisdom has always been with pitching. Who is on the mound and what they can do is very important obviously but I feel like this coach and staff has really brought in an offensive/scoring mindset.

There may not be a star on the pitching staff, although Hjelle is a legitimate Friday night starter, but there is serious depth there. Could bode well for a deep run to Omaha.

Heard on satellite radio this morning the guy who called the game last night was being interviewed. They asked if Ky could make a run to Omaha. He said they could not only make a run they have a chance to win it.
The team is fun to watch. They could be the best hitting team in college baseball.

The top 16 teams get the right to host a regional (which is basically a lock for UK at this point). The top 8 teams (called national seeds) get the right to host a super regional if they win their regional. You can still luck into hosting a super regional if you're not a top 8 seed if there's an upset in the other regional.

The regional is a four team double elimination tournament. The super regional is a best of 3 between two teams. The eight teams that win the super regionals go to the College World Series in Omaha.

In Omaha, there's another two 4-team double elimination tournaments. The winners of those then face off in a best of 3 for the title.

Hjelle is an emerging star. He has 1st round potential. The pitching staff does have solid depth. When they are throwing well, it is more than enough to make a run. The commentators mentioned last night how this team has a lot of similarities with the Costal Carolina team that won the CWS last year.

Someone tell me if you think so......

The Kentucky men's baseball team has the most beautiful uniforms in college baseball. Those things are incredibly awesome looking and I think the "UK" looks better on a baseball hat than anything.

Coming from a St. Louis cardinal fan "who has one of the pimpest uniform setups in any sport" that's saying something when I believe that.

I never liked the Henderson hire. Knew he wouldn't be the one. We've got the right guy.

Coach Mingione may prove to be Mitch's greatest hire (next to Cal).
This guy has got "it".

Don't take my point as a negative one. I think it's the approach they have decided to make.

The only college baseball I watch is Kentucky, so I don't have an opinion on where they rank overall. I think they look pretty good though.

Who would you say are the top 5-10 unis in college baseball?

Love the big letter KENTUCKY across the chest and single stripe down the leg.

Tough to beat these imo. Classic triple stripe and baby blues.

State wears several differnt ones but these are tough to argue. Great traditional looking uniforms.

Great looking classical style. I played high school baseball for dyersburg in Tennessee. We were black and gold Trojans, so i obviously think these are great.

Nothing touches the Cardinals.

Baseball uniforms blow every sport out of the water. To me nothing comes close.

If I hate the MLB, I can't imagine I'd like college baseball. Go cats but I won't be watching

After starting the season 0 and 4, I thought this was going to be a really tough year; however, they have bought into the aggressive play of this coaching staff and they are exciting and winning. I love listening to and watching them. And they are a young team with only 3 seniors. GO CATS!!
