Walked my dog by the stadium this AM, and saw more than a half dozen tent frames set up. Is it possible to go out and claim a spot FIVE WEEKS before the first game? Perhaps there is some other event that fans are preparing to tailgate for, but I am unaware of any at CWS. So are people already setting up their tents in July?? Wow.

They have done this the last couple of years. It is crazy that UK allows it. How can you claim land that doesn't belong to you months out? Better yet, what is to stop me from claim an acre area with yellow tape? I understand the day before, but people have left their trailers and such.

I know the grounds people aren't happy. How are they supposed to mow? There are other UK projects that are in the area and work around them. I would pile them up if they got in my way.

I saw a number of folks who had tents staked out all season and didn’t even bother to show up for Vandy (eh, whatever, there was plenty of room with the weather and Vandy) and UGA to wrap the season last year. Kinda annoying.

Short of assigning individual spots or fully banning setups until Saturday morning (or Friday evening like Ole Miss) and tearing down the early setups, I’m not sure what you do about it tho.

IMO week 1 will be a sellout/stadium full at kickoff, lots of excitement in the Big Blue Nation for this team evenamong casuals. Heat and a (hopefully!) UK commanding lead will chase them away in the 3rd. Week 2, 3 pm kickoff weak opponent, many high profile games nationwide, probably 10-15k empties. Week 3, 1st night game, sellout & packed crazy fun crowd.

There is no way the Ball State game will be a sell out or anything close at noon on Labor Day weekend.

At least those of us who attend will be able to drink an ice cold one or three

Just hauled our trailer out there this morning. The area where we set up already has about 7 or 8 trailers in it, with canopy frames and roped off areas everywhere. There’s well more than a half dozen. This was early even for us but was necessary to stake our claim.

This has actually gone on for a number of years and is directly proportional to the level of excitement surrounding the Team. The grassy areas are fair game and you need to stake your claim early.

The university put out a post asking people to wait till August 12. Nobody listens to that nonsense.

We'll see! Obv the temps being below 85 would be helpful. You might be underestimating the excitement among even casual fans! My non sport family members were asking me this summer about Leary & Coen, that is how I know the buzz is heavy & good.

As I said the Saturday slate of opening weekend CFB games ain't great, College GameDay going to UNC-USCjr neutral site for goodness sake. Best game is Sun night (LSU- FSU).

i know people who do this. I am surprised its a thing. I get why UK would allow it...any hype is good hype. I would be afraid my tent frame would be moved or removed. Got more faith in humanity than i do.

That is ridiculous. If they arnt there when I get there. They won’t have a a spot

A few years ago, I parked my car 5 minutes before noon on Friday and they made me move until noon. At noon the swarm left me without a place.
