Orlando spurns Cal

ehhh, I look at it more that the liked it up there and didn't want to move to freakin' Fayetteville.

Yeah, I've been there...Ar-Kansas Ouch...

Hard to understand EVER moving to Illinois though but I guess there are decent places to move there as well.

I was in Fayetteville for nearly three years.... North Carolina though... Fort Bragg way...

I'd rather him go with cal. Cal was going to get top guys regardless but now this opens up a spot for a xo coach. If O followed, cal would've been the xo guy lol

I think if you are outside of the Chicago area, Illinois would be an ok place. But, that is my guess

Part of our problem with Cal was the recruits he was getting. A bunch of gimme gimme types.

We really don't know that. We just know a lot of them were or seemed that way under Cal. Who knows what they'd have been like otherwise.

How do you know Cal wanted him in Arkansas?

Other than the list of terms agreed to in principle that leaked out that weekend? Iirc Brett norlander had that. One of those terms was bringing his staff. Of course maybe something changed, other than finding out O didn't want to come; but everyone knew KP was available all along.

Also I stand corrected. Payne took that spot. So there won't be an xo guy after all.

Just me and not posting against you but I doubt Coach Pope ever considers what Cow does in positive ways. (Like you mentioned.) He has probably been watching from afar since Cow arrived. Just me but I'd try to do things Cow did not do and take that is being correct.

All those recruits of Cow's did nothing for UK. (Yeah 2012 but that was the players, not Cow.)

Cow will go down in history as the Coach that did less with more than ANY coach in NCAA history.... Just a fact...

You're clueless.
why would he be clueless for saying that? Antiqua was a great asset in recruiting and at least right now he would of been a real assist. I can understand Pope not wanting him given his supposed closeness with Cal for decades and Cal coaches in the SEC. However I could definitley understand wanting him to stay as he is known as a great recruit whisperer and that is something Pope needs at this level till he really gets his footing at least.

I wish I knew the story here. Why he didn't go with Cal and why Pope didn't retain him. I think he wanted to be here but it had to be a tough call for Pope to send him packing. There's more to this than we know, I'm pretty sure of that much.

Of course you'd spin it this way. You defended Cal all the way until the end.

Your takes have been generally pretty awful, so no surprise that you'd think Antigua would prefer Champaign, Illinois - the barren corn capital of America - over Fayetteville, Arkansas, which is a location that is within 30 to 40 minutes away from some of the most beautiful mountains in the US.

Horrible take, per usual.

Not surprised either way he would have went. He was at Illinois from 2017-2021. Now he's back there as associate HC.
