Got a phone call last night from a Gulf Shore snowbird friend from Michigan. Said rumor was Dan McDonnell after CWS would be named new Mississippi State head coach. Just told him I wasn't hearing those rumors around here.
Wonder since The Turtle was fired if Dan thinks it is time to move on. He's certainly put UofL baseball on the map. And Mississippi State is a premier job.
What say ye?

If you are referring to the UofL coach it is McDonnell. And that rumor has been bounced around here for a couple of months in numerous threads so it isn't new.

Apparently MSU will hire either McDonnell or Schlossnagle each of whom makes in excess of $1 million per. So to use a baseball term, Cohen is swinging for the fences.

If TCU doesn't make the NCAAT and Schlossnagle isn't named next week, McDonnell will be named when UofL's season ends.

Edited to add that Tim Corbin is the third name on the Mississippi State list.

Fanbase wise Miss. State is a premier team but I always find it interesting that they have never won a CWS. Plenty of trips, but their best finish was 2nd in 2013.

The State fanbase really believes they will get a big time well established coach. Corbin, McDonnell, and even Florida's O'Sullivan have been named as possibilities by State fans.

Pretty sure they(mst) just completed a renovation that will easily make it the most fan friendly in the country, Think I also read it could make it the first college bb program that makes a profit. DM is the highest paid coach in cbb so mst will have that to deal with. If TJ was still around I'd say no way , but now I do t know.

Schlossnagle makes $1.4M and McDonnell is at $1M with retention bonuses. Cohen is about to drive up the market price which could be problematic for most programs that don't pay their way.
