USC's RPI of 15 is interesting.

Southeastern
Team Conf. W-L Tot. W-L RPI Rank
Kentucky 0-0 6-0 32
S. Carolina 0-0 6-0 15

The Gamecocks improved to 6-0 for the first time since 2003-04 when they started 8-0, the last time South Carolina made the NCAA Tournament. South Carolina won the Paradise Jam over the weekend, and this is the best start in four years under Martin.

South Carolina is starting to look like a dark horse. They will be a tough road game for sure, but UK doesn't play them until mid February.

Who have they beat? No one. I'm sorry, just being honest. They are about like UL being undefeated...big deal.

considering they're the not one of the team expected to be undefeated at this point? And it IS different; they aren't pounding their chests or complaining they aren't ranked due to sex scandals.

Martin has historically had tough teams. Some of those K State teams were really good, seems like it was only a matter of time before he got South Carolina playing good basketball. Not looking forward to playing them on the road.

Who should they have lost to BKO? I'm looking at their 6 wins and I'm not surprised at all they are 6-0. And all I meant was they are both two undefeated teams that play no one. Fortunately UL plays at MSU on Wed. so that fantasy is about to be over. SC may be undefeated a while, but purely fools gold (IMO, sure to be wrong lol).

The more teams that can truly test the Cats the better.

We always play close SEC games, but oftentimes they are to truly subpar, non-NIT, teams. I'm hoping this year were play quality opponents to prepare us for March/April.

LOL true - but the other SEC teams managed to lose. What I'm saying is everyone (understandably) is overlooking SoCar - so it's a bit of a surprise that they, among the other SEC teams are the only ones to win ''em all. Funny any way you look at it

Any time another sec team wins against Norfolk State, it is worthy of recognition. Our NIT game is strong this year.

They play nobody until they play Memphis at home on Jan 2nd. After that, it's SEC play.

While they haven't (and likely won't) proven anything, it would be nice to see them with a great record going into the SEC schedule. It's not like other conference schools don't do this (UL).

UL will likely be touting 10-2 or 11-1 (if they beat MSU) after their non-conference schedule, yet only 2 of those 12 games were against teams close to a chance to beat them.

I always expected Martin to get them back to at least a decent program. Now in his 4th season they could be an unexpected team at least in the top half of the SEC, maybe better. We'll see. They haven't played anyone decent yet, but at least their winning, and if they string together a few more wins we'll start to hear more about them. I think Martin's a good coach. In fact the SEC now has a number of good coaches. I think it's going to be much more competitive over these next years beginning with this one.

If we can't win the SEC, we can't and shouldn't win the NCAA tourney, bottom line.

Of course, Duke didn't win the ACC regular season or tourney championship last year did they? Just rode some greased skids to the championship...

Hell - Notre Dame was more deserving.
