that is a bitter man. he basically admitted to being a pos and egotistical jerk. and as much as he tried to cover it up he can't stand Cal. and maybe not for all the reasons we think.

after getting the details on why he took the UL job it was something he said that made me think his reasons for dislike of Cal comes from his selfish ego driven personality. he told his wife THE COACH OF KY can't coach at UL. if not mistaken I think Tubby had been coaching a few years at ky by then. no question in my mind he thought he would of always been the name of Ky basketball. and Cal has passed him by like he was standing still. I also think because of Cals success RP blames him for a lot of the hate he gets from UK fans today. once again just to arrogant to see the real reasons we dislike him.

No question in my mind he regrets taking that UL job today. reading between the lines he basically said that. he said the only reason he took it was for his family. to bring them back to a place they loved. he was waiting on the Michigan paper work to sign when his wife basically said no to Illinois and yes to Kentucky. said he did it for his family not for the job or school. if it was about the job and school he would of been at Michigan. and you see the regret on his face and hear it in his voice. he knows now taking that that UL job killed his King like status in Kentucky. he is a hated man in the state he coaches.

just shows how lonely and how many bridges he has burned. his home in Boston were he coached at the highest level , a place he said he also loved he feels unwanted there and does not like going back. see the connection? he is going to be a man with a country once he leaves coll ball. had he taken the Michigan job once he retired who's to say he could not of came back as a school rep or even serve as AD at Ky. we would of taken him back with open arms. Now he has a small area in the state he can travel with out getting dirty looks and made to feel like the enemy.

this is really sad if you look at the entire picture of how this man has sabotaged his own future in the places he says he loved. sad thing when you see a man of his age and who has accomplished so much show so much regret at we're he is today and the decisions he made to get there.

I wonder if we will ever open our arms back up to the man? I think that's what he would want , but way to proud to ever say it. and to UL fans he all but said if he had it to do all over again he never would took the 50 million and In my opinion he never would of taken the UL job.

I hope someday we can find a common ground with Rick. he did a lot for us even tho in his own words at the time he was a egotistical prick who wanted and took all the credit leaving none for the players or the great tradition and resources UK gave him, I think the older he gets and once away from the game he will come back looking for that forgiveness from UK. not that he should feel like forgiveness from UK completes him , I do not wanna sound like a jerk, I just think after seeing and listening to the regret in that man at some point that welcoming him back may take some of that away. and I'm ok with that.
