OLB Caleb Redd commits

According to KSR & Rivals,

Edge/OLB Caleb Redd has committed to the Cats. Not sure about his level of HS competition, but according to the KSR article, he had 21 sacks and 60 tackles last season as a Jr.

Plays for a powerhouse school that plays in the toughest conference in the state. It’s a great pick up.

De Smet has produced a lot of athletes over the years. One that comes to mind is Steve Stepanovich, a 6'11" C in the late '70s who chose Missouri over UK, had a decent 5-6 year NBA career.

Redd seems to run well, hopefully he'll continue to grow and hit the weights. Offers seem to come from Big-10/Big-12 schools. Does show offers from Oregon, Oklahoma, the real USC, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas St, Minnesota.

I'm going to guess Kansas St was his second option? Why didn't Missouri offer him?

That's my two questions. I'm glad to see us hitting up Missouri again, but a lot of people would question why we're going there.

Did they ever figure out who shot Stipo?

Exactly the type of player needed in the portal era. Grab a deep class of 3 star talent and add the missing pieces in the portal. With so much turnover depth is more important as it is no longer a 4year expectation. UK recruiting well for that. Still need some 4 stars but ib football it is law of averages.

Yep, St Louis is way out there. Cleveland and St Louis about same distance from Lexington, Memphis and Atlanta are further and B'ham is about the same distance. We've been trying to get in that great market for sometime, congrats to Coach Buff.
Have said before it's as if UK has drawn a 300 mile radius around Lexington and claimed that as "home" territory. St Louis is barely outside that, 313 miles, Birmingham, Memphis, Chicago barely outside too but Atlanta, Charlotte, Cleveland, Pittsburgh are within that area. Lots of recruits within that circle.

Ft. Lauderdale? Orlando? Savannah? Houston? Greenwich? Irvington? Billings?

5-10 years ago, what you are saying about the 300 mile radius was mostly accurate with the exception of a few FL kids like Juice and Baity. Since then, UK's football recruiting budget has been increased and assistant coaches have been hired with recruiting contacts in more distant places like south FL, TX, and the northeast. This is a phase of growth for our football program, as Stoops and Barnhart have seen what is necessary to be competitive in the expanding SEC, where exploding TV revenue is making new approaches possible for every member school.
