Oh the irony, we win on a ST screwup

The smartest thing for the punter was to take the safety, but it worked out - rarely does for us, so I’ll take it.
The smartest thing was to at least punt it out past the 20-yard line like he did. Make them score a TD. Their kicker has the leg to kick a 60+ yarder. He takes a safety we definitely lose in a UK kinda way on a last second FG.

Yes, if you can do that, but it was a hell of a risk to even try it.

Wow, that was one of the greatest plays our oc ever came up with! Perfectly executed, too! But we need to take it out of the playbook now. Future opponents will be ready for it
😁

Very true. Out of all the scenarios, I think taking a safety for me would be last. Hell I woulda handed the guy the ball in the endzone to let them score a TD before taking a safety and kicking/punting it back to them. Not that we’d do much with the last possession but theoretically. Last second FGs are the worst. Maybe not as bad as a bad snap to lose the game lol, but still.

Yes, had we taken a safety all they would have needed was a FG to win. They probably win the game with that.

I was thinking that too. Don't take that safety. Pull a mumme or bilichick amd let em score fast, then get the ball back with about 2 minutes. To try and win or tie with a fg.

Tonight I saw more crazy plays than usually occur in a month of games. Our own with the late punt. The onside kick by MSU with 30 seconds left in regulation. Hit the Auburn player in a line drive kick and carroomed back to MSU. LSU going for 2 and the win in OT.

At the game yesterday, one of the long snappers was practicing with Goodfellow quite a bit whenever he got the chance. I saw at least 40 snaps and none of them were bad at all. IIRC, his number was 55. I don't think he's the one who airmailed the snap 10 feet over Goodfellows head. Helluva smart play by Goodfellow even if the flag hadn't saved our bacon. Somehow got off a 30-ish yard punt while being creamed. Just knew he was going to fall on the ball inside our 5, which would have been disastrous.

Need two punters in the backfield, one behind the other, or is that an illegal formation?
