After doing a little recruiting research I found some intetesting facts about high school football teams.

The state of Georgia has 7 classifications in football with 467 team competing throughout the state. It's easy to see why we recruit that area so hard.

The state of Alabama has 7 classification in football with 387 teams, their population is around 500,000 more than Kentucky's.

The state of Kentucky has 6 classifications in football with less than 200 teams.

The state of Mississippi has 7 classification in football with over 250 team, their population is about 1 million less than Kentucky. It's amazing the quality and quanity of football player coming from the state.

It's easy to see why Coach Stoops and staff focus so much on Ohio, Georgia, Alabama, Florida and other states. IMO their best quality has been the ability to recognize talent that could be developed as they progressed through the system, in other words sleepers. After being successful they are getting looks from top talent across the country.

Georgia actually has 117 more schools in a separate organization called Georgia Independent school association. Most are smaller private schools and not have football teams. Not many but a few DI players come from there and some top BB players come from those schools.

Mississippi
Black or African American alone, percent(a) 38.0%

Kentucky

A state like TN has 6 public classes plus 3 private. 9 classes in a state no bigger than TN is ridiculous. 3 classes is plenty, give everybody else a Certificate of Participation and a pizza party.
