We are under way at The Cliff. Justin Lewis on the bump. I imagine the lineup isn't too much different from yesterday and Friday, but I haven't seen UKTwitter post a graphic. We're in black jersey with white pants.

Lewis has walked one guy and is struggling a bit with control.

Lewis struggling a bit. He got a ground ball to Becker before giving up a walk. He then got a strikeout and gave up a steal on that strikeout before hitting a batter. Jackson, the thorn in our side this weekend, then hit a weak one into right to score a run and give Oakland their first lead of the weekend. 1-0 in the top of the first with runners on the corners. Belanger out early to talk to Lewis.

Lewis was up 0-2 and had a pickoff, but didn't throw the ball strongly to Cottam and the runner gets back safely. Lewis then gives up a single through the left side that plates another run and puts Oakland up 2-0.

Lewis got out of the inning without anymore damage.

Squires begins the UK hitting with a called strikeout. Aklinski hitting second today and he lines one into the left field corner through the Oakland bullpen. It is kicked around a bit out there and he goes into second easily and with the error he gets to third. Becker gets a four pitch walk to put them on the corners.

Collette hitting cleanup and they played a good hit and run that Collette went oppo with, but unfortunately it landed just foul. Collette followed that up with a blast down the right field line that also goes foul. Becker then takes second and no one covers the bag. I think they will score that a steal. Collette then goes down on strikes.

Cottam works a great at bat and gets a full count walk. Fouled off a pitch or two in order to get there. Very good job by him.

So, we're full Ryan Johnson now up and he sees three straight balls before taking a pitch. He gets a hitters count and squares it up, but hits it right to short stop on a line drive that ends the inning and strands three runners.

UK really needed a hit there, but couldn't find the grass and they go to the second down 2-0 to Oakland.

If I refresh the screen, I can get less than a second of audio before it goes to the advertisement which doesn't play. So much for listening to the game.

Old_Red, have you tried iHeart radio or something like that to play the game on 98.5 or 630 WLAP?

Lewis still struggling a bit as he goes 3-0 before fighting back to get a strikeout. Lewis gets another strikeout on a 2-2 pitch chased down in the dirt. A weak grounder to Dawson at short then ends the Oakland top of the second. Score still 2-0.

Just got the video working from secsports.com. Kind of a pain. Never figured out why it wouldn't play the advertisement from the link on UKathletics.

Heyer leads off the UK second and he draws a full count walk. Heyer seems like he is playing outfield today. Not sure if he is in right or left. I say that because Alex Rodriguez is out at third base and he takes a four pitch walk to get runners to second and first with no outs for Dawson. Dawson first squared to bunt and bunted through it before getting a wild pitch that got to the backstop and moved up the runners. Dawson goes down on strikes, so I guess the effect is the same.

Squires hits one into right field for a 2 RBI single. He advances to second on an errant throw. 2-2 now in the bottom of the second with just 1 out. Nice hitting by Squires.

Squires moves up 90 more feet to third on a wild pitch and Aklinski hits a sac fly that scores Squires to give UK the lead 3-2. Becker then rips one down the right field line for a stand up double!!

TJ Collette is going to hate leaving the friendly confines of Cliff Hagan in 2019. He blasts one into right field for another home run to give UK a 5-2 lead.

Another really crooked number in the 2nd. Maybe we can get it to double digits?

Cottam puts down a great bunt for a hit. Then Johnson gets his first big fly as a Wildcat and puts UK up 7-2. Oakland now going to a new pitcher.

I missed how Heyer got on, but I believe he drew a walk before the pitching change. After the pitching change ARod gets hit by a pitch. UK attempts a double steal, but Heyer gets thrown out to end the inning.

Still, UK put up a seven spot in the bottom of the second to take a 7-2 lead, and we're already in the Oakland bullpen.

Well, another base runner picked off. Should have been picked off earlier. That is one area that we need to make a big improvement in. Maybe Mingione wants them on the far side of aggressive so they can learn their limit? Well, past it so far.

Lewis gives up a leadoff single in the top of the third. Ground out to first base and Cottam takes it himself, but it moves the runner up. Lewis falls behind 3-0 before battling back to a full count. He is at 50 pitches now. He gets a chopper to ARod, who backhands it and makes the play at first. It holds the runner and gets out number two. Jackson now up. Lewis may want to pitch carefully to him, he has been hot this weekend. Lewis fails to take my advice, and as usual it pays off, as he goes after Jackson and gets a swinging strikeout to end the Oakland 3rd. UK up 7-2.

Collette has homered in four games in a row. :baseball::100points::baseball:

Before today we were 5 for 11 on stolen base attempts. Pretty poor. Oddly enough, Ming doesn't really follow the rule of not getting the third out on the bases. He will run in any situation. I like that aggressiveness, but I would much rather us be more successful at it (obviously).

Dawson squares one up, but it is right at the third baseman, who goes to a knee to pick it off for out number one. Squires works a full count walk. Aklinski also takes a free base with a walk. Becker hits one pretty deep as it goes just several feet short of the warning track before finding a glove. Squires doesn't tag up, not sure why he stays put. Seems like it would be deep enough, but he doesn't risk it. Collette rips one up the middle that plates Squires and Aklinski stretches it all the way to third. He's on fire. Cottam hits one to right, but it is right at the outfielder for out number three.

We go to the top of the 4th with UK leading 8-2.

Collette is hitting .367 with 5 home runs. Let's put that into a bit of perspective... last year Mahan led UK with 15 home runs. We had just 3 people with double digit home runs a year ago. He also has 17 RBIs on the year.

He is second only behind Ethan Paul of Vanderbilt in RBIs in the SEC coming into today's game and is tied for second for most home runs, Georgia's McGovern has 6 before today.

Lewis working quickly, starts with a strikeout and then gets a grounder to Becker for the second out. Another strikeout ends the inning. Lewis settling in nicely. He now has 7 strikeouts on the day.

Only Dawson has an official at bat without a hit this game. Rodriguez and Heyer both have a walk and HBP with no official at bats. Everyone else has at least one hit. That's pretty good for 3 half innings work.

New pitcher for Oakland. Johnson gets hit by a pitch to take the first base and Luke Heyer hits his fourth home run of the year to give UK a 10-2 lead. He took this one to left. Rodriquez goes down quickly on three pitches for out number one. Dawson is just unlucky today as he hits another one right on the nose, but once again right at an infielder for the second out. Squires reaches once again as he takes a free base on a walk. Aklinski flies out to short to end the inning. UK leading 10-2.

Before today, Kentucky is fourth in the SEC in batting average. They trail only South Carolina in home runs (16). We lead the league in doubles. For the first time, we might not actually win the league title for hit by pitches as ex-UK assistant Brad Bohannon has apparently taught Alabama to stay still as they have 21 HBPs (UK has 11), which is tied with Auburn. Kentucky pitching can improve a bit as their ERA is good for 8th best in the league.

One thing I really like to see is that we have one of the top 5 SEC fielding percentages, I think we're actually tied for third best.

Lewis sits down another with a swinging strikeout on that nasty changeup. I suppose, if there is a positive about our ERA being a bit high, it is that UK is top 3 in the league in strikeouts so far this season. Lewis follows it up with another strikeout, his third straight and 9th overall. Gabriel reminding us that he had 9 last Sunday as well. Lewis strikes out the side for a career high 10 strikeouts!! He has settled in nicely. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Late action on that change-up was impressive. It just died on outside corner. Hitter had no chance.

Becker struck out before Collette grounded out to second. Cottam singled up the middle to keep the inning alive. Johnson then draws a walk. Heyer also walks to load them up, but Rodriguez pops up to short to end the threat and leave the bases loaded. UK still up 10-2, but they have missed out on some big innings by leaving the bases loaded twice in this one.

Dawson makes what looks like an impressive play after we give up the home run to nip Jackson. I say it looks like. I got so few frames that it looked like freeze-frame graphics.
