Just for kicks, I looked it up and Vegas is 4th in the bowl pecking order for the PAC 12, several west coast writers are projecting UCLA or even Utah in this bowl (most experts think the Rose Bowl will pick Oregon over Utah if they lose this weekend), a few are picking Oregon State or Washington State, but it is fairly likely if we go to Vegas we would be playing a 9-3 type team

Most are projecting Miss State, Missouri or Arkansas as the opponent, no one picked UK, so this is all rampant speculation on my part

State is 8-4 so I could see them being picked ahead of UK, but Mizzou and Arky are both 6-6.

I won’t be going to UK’s bowl as much as I would want to go for financial reasons, but I’m sure a lot of UK fans would be up for a trip to Vegas. Edit to add that I believe we would have the best traveling contingent out of the four schools.

Maybe if we had a better record than 7-5. Not sure many fans are going to travel that far to see this particular team.

Vegas trip will appeal to many, many fans. Plus the win Saturdaywas a good way to get fan base back on board about next year. I don't think most people actually realized how big of a win that game was - a loss would have sent the fans into a very serious frenzy. U of L WAS on a nice run the end of the season - so that win is bigger than it would have been after the first six games of the season. U of L was ranked before the game as well.

Go Big Blue!

Vegas would be a great bowl trip, but I don't see UK fans being excited about it this particular year. Beating UL helps, but losing to vandy took the wind out of a lot of sails.

Think Utah was in the Rose last year, doubt they'd want them back this soon....unless they beat USC. I'd like to see UK-Oregon St. Imagine there's interest there for Miss St-Wash St because of Leach having left Wash St for Miss St. Wash St has a dynamic young QB named Cam Ward, very flashy/athletic. Was FCS Freshman of the Year last year at Incarnate Word. His OC, off the Leach tree and an Air Raider, was hired as Wash St OC in the off season and brought Ward with him.

I think a lot of fans are split right now. Some are pretty happy to have beaten UL and to go to a bowl considering our history (I think those same fans believe some changes to the offense are warranted and acknowledge we probably should have had a better record this year). The other part of the fan base desperately thought we could compete for an SEC championship this year and feel the season was an epic let down. Those particular fans aren't super thrilled with our bowl prospects and maybe aren't super realistic (count me in that bucket). This is going to be a HUGE off-season regardless.

I'd love to see us in the Gator Bowl this year, but I think it will likely be Nashville.

State being 8 and 4 means they're way above a December 17th bowl.

Why do we see no SEC projections for the Gasparilla Bowl - Friday, 12/23/22 in Tampa?
That bowl is at the bottom of SEC pecking order, which begins after CFP/NY6 games. Not enough bowl eligible teams from SEC this year to dip that far down in the pool once you remove UGA, UT, and LSU/Alabama from the list.

I love me some Tampa. 74 miles from the trailer.
Has the primetime slot on ESPN. Only other game is Army’s bowl before it. In Tampa. Plus a whole slew of teams from several different conferences the opponent could be. If Levis doesn’t play I’d like that one.

Im sure games are on 2 separate networks....but some programming honk could theoretically build and promote a UK - UCLA doubleheader.

Basketball game in NYC at 5 / Football in Las Vegas at 730

Not a big pull nationally, but guarantee something thats probably never been done.

I think Vegas would draw some fans. The bowl game would just be one more thing to do while in town. Certainly could envision a lot of folks making a multi-day trip out of it - Hoover Dam, casinos, shows, good restaurants, etc. Lot of entertainment options and not an oven in mid-December.

Music City seems to be the general consensus, although I've seen Texas Bowl popping up and did see a LV Bowl projection. The Gator Bowls seems be be fading. I'm hoping for the Texas Bowl, only because it's driving distance from me.

I just don't see MCB. It may not be a big deal for most SEC schools but I'm sure Mitch will put his $.02 in about our basketball team playing our rival at the same time and push for a different bowl. I'm guessing ReliaQuest.

I’d dance with myself for an hour if we got the ol’ Outback Bowl…think Levis might play if against a Little Ten biotch team.

I think the Reliaquest boat has sailed, tbh, even if we had beaten Vanderbilt, the LSU loss would still leave us behind LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, with same or better records and a win over UK.

I tend to agree that MB will lobby hard against a direct conflict with the Music City. Maybe the Texas Bowl by default?

Bowl game needs to be driving distance for me. I can do Texas bowl but not Vegas. That gets too expensive for me.

Records don't really matter in the pool of 6 bowls. It's all up to the SEC who goes where. With games in Texas, Birmingham, and Las Vegas, the SEC will likely want the best turnout possible so I would imagine the West teams will fill out those locations. If you eliminate MCB because of the conflict with our basketball game, that takes 4 of the 6 games out of the picture. That leaves Gator and ReliaQuest. I don't think it is out of the picture to get to Florida.

Three of the top 4 will for sure be in the playoffs, Sugar, and Citrus. Some think the last of the 4 might make the Orange. That takes care of Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, and Georgia. That leaves Ole Miss, Miss St, and South Carolina as the only teams above us. Mississippi schools will probably get Texas and Vegas bowls. South Carolina can get Gator. Arkansas or Missouri can slide up to the Liberty Bowl with the other getting Birmingham. That leaves ReliaQuest for us and MCB for Florida.

Ill go to Vegas any time the Cats come out West. UK has a lot of support out this way and would have no trouble painting the city Blue

Plus, it’s a good excuse to….cut loose in Vegas. Lol

And why would ReliaQuest take UK over USC? So Car has a better record, played very well down the stretch and beat two top 15 teams.

West is meaningless when it comes to Vegas because Vegas is WAY west of anywhere in the conference. That Mississippi or Arkansas is technically west of Lexington won't matter. Liberty is not wedded to a West team, either. Birmingham is not even "Group of 6" and will go to the worst eligible SEC team, but may not get a team at all- depends of whether LSU makes NY6. We are probably looking at Vegas or Liberty.

Then they get ReliaQuest and we get Gator. Same difference. Both get Florida. We've played in Gator recently so that's why I went with ReliaQuest.

Most projections I see are West teams going to Vegas and Texas. Liberty is Memphis which is right down the road from Arkansas. That's why I put them there. Then Missouri gets what's left with Birmingham. It's all just a guess but I predicted we get Gator back in 2016 with a 7-5 record and many people on here didn't think we could. See if lightning can strike twice for me. 😆

Edit
Not sure on which of the last 2 get picked if we only have 1 team. Says ESPN Events picks those 2 bowls so it might be a match up thing with who they send the SEC to play and where.

It does have a SEC tie-in. Just so far down the list that there are not enough bowl eligible SEC teams.
Sorry, I miss spoke - the SEC doesn;t have enough teams to fill this MINOR bowl this year. Great location - but miserable payout. UK should be in Texas, Las Vegas, Reliaquest or Gator based on records. Georgia - playoff, Bama -Sugar, Tennessee - Orange, LSU- Citrus, South Carolina - Reliaquest, Ole Miss - Texas, Miss. State - Music City, Kentucky - Gator. Florida, Missouri and Arkansas should play in the 3 minor bowl games. I think UK gets pick over Miss. State because UK beat them and will opt for Gator. UL Basketball game is Saturday, 12/31 - but virtually every bowl game date is a conflict with basketball - and the others are on the same day of the week. Gator is good - but I would love to play in Texas Bowl - but think Ole Miss or Miss. State will take those - but that does leave the possiblity of Las Vegas - however, UCLA basketball game is the same day as Las Vegas Bowl.

Go Big Blue!

I’ll be thrilled with any bowl we go to as long as Scang is relieved of his duties, like yesterday. If he is retained It will be just the opposite. Horrible hire!!!

If our top 4 all go NYD6, our 5th best (Ole Miss) will be taken by Citrus. If LSU tumbles below Penn State in the rankings, apparently, they get the Citrus. The net affect will be to slide one of our 6-6 teams to either Birmingham or Tampa’s Gasparilla Bowl.

While record “does not matter” officially for the Group of Six bowls, remember UT’s hissy fit in 2019, when we nearly went to the Gator over them. They successfully pled their victory over us to take the Gator and send us to Charlotte.

Given that Tampa is on New Year’s Day it is perceived as better than the Gator Bowl, etc., and given that the Gator is in Florida, I think it is perceived as a better destination than the MCB, etc.

The league, supposedly, wants to keep bowls from repeating destinations (sans the NYD6 and Citrus which can and do repeat appearances). I read a few years ago that for the Group of Six, they also prefer a two year non-repeat; if still so, that would knock us out of the Gator.

My best guess is LSU to Citrus, USCe to the Tampa Bowl, Ole Miss to Gator, UK to Texas Bowl, Mizzou to Las Vegas, State to MCB and UF to the Memphis, Arkansas to Birmingham.

My group is signed up for tickets for all but Las Vegas.

I doubt many are willing to spend money to travel far away to watch this boring, disappointing offense. I highly doubt many will travel to watch this team without Levis behind center.

Plus MS has an exciting pass oriented coach and team.
