not wishful thinking... just a thought is all...

how likely is it that if D***** H***** doesn't get a lot of touches and falls behind a few guys at Bama, or even falls behind underclassmen when the next 5* comes in next year and the year after (which is possible with the shear amount of quality RB's they have... and are currently going after in next years class) that he tucks his tail between his legs and requests a transfer back here to UK.

surely he would not let his college career go down with a marginal amount of touches at bama if that were the case. that certainly won't get him into the NFL as a RB. and from all accounts being in the NFL is his goal and why he chose Bama over UK.

im not saying this because i want this to happen, im just asking because i believe he does really like UK (even tho he picked Bama), and would rather transfer here and get touches than fall into a JoJo situation where he falls down the depth chart and gets 1 or 2 touches a game at Bama.

sometimes this happens with big recruits. they get outworked by other guys after going out of state, and end up transferring back to Home State U.

the WR Montrell Jones did the same after going to UT and not playing much... transferred back to Louisville.

just food for thought.

BTW, im in the camp of being pissed about the way he did UK, our coaches and fans. i don't wish him any good luck (or back luck)... i only wish our players good luck...

He'll do alright. I don't believe he'll be the best RB in the SEC. As far as skillset goes, Boom Williams, Nick Chubb, and Leonard Fournette all have similar-better skills than he does.
Boom is slightly the fastest of the 3, most versatile, best change of direction. Fournette the most powerful, but still has some insane speed . Chubb with the best field vision, exquisite balance, and can be ran a lot more than any other. (This is why he's the best frosh RB this season. He can handle running the ball more than, really, any other back in the SEC. 30+ carries a game don't bother him, he can still get 7+ YPC).
I'm not too sure what Bammer's newest baby excels at.
Frankly, I'm perfectly content with our backs. I couldn't care less if he grovelled to Stoops, begging for a transfer (I don't expect this, but I couldn't care less tbh).
We're fine at that position.

DH was a bad miss anyway you look at it. No need to justify Boom or our current backs being better than him. Maybe in a couple of years after Stoops turns this thing around, we don't lose these type of recruits.

Hopefully we won't need him. I truly think Boom is elite.

Harris is no Chubb and although it would have been a nice get for us since he was from KY. He is going to have a very hard road ahead of him winning playing time with the roster Alabama has. Just read an article, BEFORE, Harris about how loaded they were at running back next year. They are crazy loaded with 5 stars hoping to play.

Harris truly missed an opportunity, even more after he played us, he could have been a great player here, now he will not be welcomed at Commonwealth, Basketball games etc. Otherwise he would have always been taken care of in KY.

Based on what JRow seemed to have said, I doubt that Stoops and Kentucky would give him a chance even if he wanted to come back.

I think we need to remember that running backs are only as good as their offensive lines. There's been very few exceptions to this (Barry Sanders comes to mind in the NFL). An average runner could play behind Alabama's line and be a successful college running back. It takes a really special talent to succeed without a line.

Bama won't release him to another SEC team, forcing him to sit out 2 years instead of 1. If he only stays 1 year, he can transfer to a JUCO, graduate and come to an SEC school as a Jr, unless he redshirts one of those years and comes as a Redshirt soph. Not many teams will release a player outright to another SEC school.

JRow tweet: You can bet Stoops & staff will continue to recruit Harris until NSD.

That tweet was before he spoke with the staff. From what I understand, a few things have changed since that tweet was made.

Yeah, my first thought when I read the OP is Bama won't release him to us.

Actually it would point out one of the big weaknesses of going to Bama if he went there and failed and came back to UK and became a star for us.

I don't think it is going to happen, sounds like he burned a lot of bridges with UK fans, whether he meant to or not AND whether it was justified or not. I even think the chances of him backing out of Bama before signing day are pretty much gone now also.

He is going to have a lot of players there with at least a spring training session ahead of him, with Henry and Scarborough both sounding like monster backs and several other very high four stars with quite a bit of experience.

I really think he made the wrong choice, and probably too late to back out of it now.

I wonder if they told Elam he would start there right away when he isn't starting here yet, although looks like he is making giant steps toward that goal..

Harris did a verbal commitment. If he wanted to go to UK or Michigan or Boston College or USC they would take him. If he signs and enrolls at Bama they would not release him to UK later. He would have to go to JUCO and then transfer just like the kid from Georgia who is enrolling at UT. He was a Bama RB.

If we improve our OL play, we will be just fine in the running game. If we don't, it won't matter how many elite RBs we have. Nor will they want to come here. You could easily see the running talent we have on this team when we played lesser teams that our line was able to handle. If we get an SEC caliber line, we will see a big improvement in the running game.

He's going to play at Bama next year unless he's hurt. He won't start but will get enough touches to keep him happy. His big decision will be to leave for the NFL after his sophomore year or Junior year. Not whether to transfer. He's that good. Since the life span of an NFL back is short if he's going to get drafted after his sophomore year he should go then while he's still fresh.

Very doubtful.

Can't go until he is out of HS 3 years, so after jr year or rsoph year is as soon as a kid can go. Harris will play before Jones and Tenpenny, if Drake is healthy he will be ahead of him and so will Henry, no idea about Scarborough, big fast guy, he and Harris will likey fight for the 3rd spot as frosh and for the number 1 spot as soph as Drake will be a sr and Henry will leave. Of course I guess you have to figure whoever they bring in with the 16 class in that mix too.

Now wait just a minute! You think without seeing him play one game in college you are going out on a BIG limb saying he is (THAT GOOD) to leave after his sophomore year. I would be willing to bet he never carries the ball in the NFL! He played High School football in Kentucky! Not Florida or Texas. I have seen him play 10 plus times! I am not wishing this on him but I think he will have injury problems!

Know kids that play on the team. None of them are big fans of DH. Believe that or don't. Just what they have said.

That's correct.... So I don't count KapitalCat's opinion as knowledgeable in this regard...
Sorry KC...

Unless he gets redshirted he will have to wait until his Jr year to decide on his pro aspirations. I think it's very likely he can be recruited over at Alabama. However, if that happens, I can't see him transferring back to UK. Most likely he stays and deals with it or heads to a D1AA school.
